I press the X on the controller and all I get is one flash of the ring. If I press and hold the button it just flashes continuously.

Nothing happens when I press the connect button on either console or controller. (The console does it's rolling LED

flash, presumably the search, but nothing further happens.)

I have tried several sets of new batteries.

My other controller connects fine.

Any ideas?

Sounds like initial connection, I had the same problem. There is a tiny white button on the top edge of the controller and another on the front of the XBox. You need to turn on the XBox then press the little white button on it and it will search for the new controller, then quickly activate the controller and press the white button on its top edge to get it to search for the XBox. They should find each other and synch resulting in the number one quadrent of the ring of light being lit on both devices.

I found that reading the instructions helps immeasurably when dealing with new toys. 169144-ok.gif

Thanks for the input, but I've already tried everything suggested (as it states in my post 169144-ok.gif ). The controller won't power on. I press the 'Button of Light' and the LEDs flash quickly once, then nothing. The controller isn't powering up. I've tried new batteries and the batteries from my other controller, which works, and the result is the same. When the controller won't power up, it can't connect.

My other controller powers on, switching the console on and off too. But this one doesn't do anything.

I came to the conclusion it's faulty and called Currys. I called the number on my receipt and after 5 minutes of navigating their automated system finally got to speak to someone in Delhi. He was no help at all. He told me to call Currys Online - I thought I had!

He gave me another number. I called it. They told me to call tech support. I told them they told me to call them. She sounded annoyed. I didn't care. I asked if I could just take the controller back to a shop and swap it. She said yes.

I called my local Currys to check the had the stock. I explained the situation and that I wanted a black controller. They said fine, we have them too.

So I drove all the way to Currys to then be told they can't give me one off the shelf. They have to open up a console to swap it. However, they don't have any Elites in stock and suggested I go to another branch. Like feck! I telephoned you first to avoid poo like this! Why didn't you tell me all this then?

No matter how I argued (politely), they wouldn't budge and give me one off the shelf. Some crap about the system showing extra, or was it fewer, consoles if I swapped with a controller off the shelf instead. I didn't care for their excuses, but they didn't care for my situation.

He waffled on about having to go to Prescot, in his own car, on his own time to collect a console. Again, I didn't care. But neither did he. It's all he would do.

A total waste of over an hour. Something I wanted to avoid, which is why I made the phone calls first!

So now I'm waiting for them to call me later in the week and I'll have to go back out.

Do you think Currys train their staff to be so inflexible and unhelpful, or is it requirement of getting the job in the first place?
