MERV
have recently aquired a vw golf gt tdi year 2000 and for some reason when idling there seems to be a lot of engine fumes coming from the engine somewhere also when you give her the boot there is a fair bit of smoke from her does anyone have any ideas what would be wrong cheers merv
jon69
Hi Merv, Not sure if this is any consolation but my mkiv golf is exactly the same with the fumes and so is my dads tdi. Ive recently replaced whole exhaust suystem and mentioned fumes to garage and they say its the way the air flows at the back of car, something to do with aerodynamics!! i get round this by putting my "recyle cabin air" button on, this does trick for us! its the small arrow button on ur centre console under ur heater controls. Otherwise id get ur exhaust checked out for leaks too!!
