Just a quick question..................

General rule is the base model gets the all silver TDI badge, and successive models up the range gain a red I, red DI, and red TDI. When there's a change in engines (new added and old dropped etc.) then the badging structure changes. So, the 115 TDI became the 115 TDI more or less overnight. The issue is complicated somewhat by dealers being creative in their badging to some extent, and the notable exception is the GT TDI which was occasionally given to the top end engined GTI spec Golf, instead of the TDI badge which was given to the same engined car with SE or Highline spec. This didn't happen with the Bora, as the "GTI" spec was called the Sport, so all 150 engined Boras got the TDI badge whether they were Sport, Se, Highline or whatever..

Some imported models were badged GTI TDI aswell, and some owners just stuck on whatever they wanted in an effort to make their car more powerful than it actually was. The TDI badge on the back of a 90bhp Golf was good for about 10bhp as I remember.
