frazervisser
My car has been fine for almost 3 years now! The other day it said service in 4500 miles fine i thought! Then 3 days later and only 50 miles traveled it says SERVICE NOW! with a ping! Why would it do this? The car seems to drive the same as ever! Help before i get fobbed off by the stealer would be great
RedRobin
You've got a generous margin of error re servicing mileage - Something like 800 miles either way but your dealer will confirm. The pinging is only an alert waving to you and not saying that something is wrong under her bonnet.
frazervisser
Yeah but to drop from 4500 miles time to NOW is a big jump???

Just pop her in to your dealer to check it out - 5 minute while-you-wait jobbie.

bodger00
OMG! I have just logged on to post about EXACTLY the same thing happening to my car!! It said service in 4500 miles then jumped straight to service now on the next start up! This would be my second service on the car if I was to take it in now. Visser what was the outcome?...have you taken it in yet? I was thinking that if I take it in the dealer may just reset the indicator (something I could do). I was toying with the idea of doing to oil change myself as 180 quid is a bit steep for an oil change!

zippytwo
Did you look at the days to service too? I feel sure you're aware... but when you check the service status your shown a) the miles till service and then b) the number of days until service. Assuming your on the flexible service programme either can fall quickly or slowly depending on your driving style. It is quite possible to have several thousand miles outstanding but for the number of days to fall to nil.

RedRobin
....Most definitely the proper Longlife stuff. My dealer as a good 'un .
bodger00
Both Visser and I have done 5k since the last service. It has taken me a year to do this as I have been working away. I am beginning to think this is the reason why it has gone to "Service Now". Saying thats it does not explain why the countdown displayed 4500 miles to service then a few days later and after say 20 miles it went to "Service Now"?????????
RedRobin
....One explanation is that there is also a time factor in the countdown calcs (or has this info already been posted?).

frazervisser
Ok finally got it seen to! It seem the time and miles to service settings were out of sync. There is nothing wrong with car and settings have been reset! All sorted now
