quick "new from Ebay" sky box question

it is [normal] Sky at my folks place. I am holding out for the [hopefully!] pre-Xmas Sky+ install offers at my place.

I assume the Sky+ box would do the job just as well.

[without meaning to sound cheeky] didn't the original Sky+ boxes have some "freezing" issues?

What would you be looking for to clear some garage space wink.gif

oh and does it have a remote?

Dont forget a new lnb and extra cable as well then to make the most of Sky+.

I did a self upgrade. Changed the lnb on the dish, run a parallel coax and plumbed it in. Phoned Sky CS and got them to upgrade my suscription. Was all pretty easy.

Personally I'd not wait, theres always another deal around the corner... desparate January sales, Easter specials and so on. If you want the service get it now tongue.gif

Actually at my own house I already have a quad LNB - I got the engineer to fit it when they repaired my dish 6 months ago. So it would be a case of sourcing a Sky+ box for myself and then running that extra coaxial cable to the box?

Might be worth tracking down a local installer to see how much "beer money" he wants to run that 2nd Cable then I guess [unless it is really easy?]

in which case folks could have my [6month old] box and job done!

Its pretty easy provided you have easy access to the cale route and either end... else its a pita.

cable run from dish to receiver is fairly straight forward [both at the back of the house] so I might toy with this route.

even better if I can find the number for the sky engineer who did the quad lnb install for me as I could up his "beer money" if he could install the old box upstairs in the bedroom [again at the back of the house].

Mac, I will get back to you this weekend once I have spoken with my sister and then decided what route we both intend to follow 169144-ok.gif

Just got my sky box replaced, Did look at ebay etc but decided it would be less hassle to just call sky and pay the £65 call out fee. The man changed the box and decided that the dish had seen better days, so he replaced that as well. The new box is a refurb but as it is hidden away I am not bothered about it not being the latest design.
