Waylander
we need to be told, it seems, that he will hold talks with Alonso A couple of lines made me chuckle: [ QUOTE ] If that is how aggressive he wants to be then I can be just as aggressive [/ QUOTE ] Better though was: [ QUOTE ] Hamilton believes he has worked out why Alonso has held an edge over him in recent races.... "Usually Fernando and I have similar set-ups but at the last race we were miles apart and I didn't get it right." [/ QUOTE ] ie we wouldn't tell me so I had to do it myself and screwed up! I admire LH as a driver but this PR crap is getting onm y wick!

RedRobin
[ QUOTE ] Whos is Hamilton? [/ QUOTE ] ....Lady Hamilton was Nelson's bitch I support Lewis Hamilton on this - If you don't like what he has to say, you don't have to read or listen. What's the problem? Do you want to censor him? Let any of the drivers and teams have their say. There's nothing wrong in courting the media - It's how information gets publicly communicated. cruiser647
[ QUOTE ] There's nothing wrong in courting the media - It's how information gets publicly communicated. [/ QUOTE ] Hmmm, he cannot court the media in one hand, and then when they start hassling him tell them to feck off with the other hand. If you court the media, expect them to be there at every turn, every change in form, every party, every dinner. It's a fine line he is walking. garcon magnifique
I think the Hamilton camp know exactly what they're doing with the media. Even the quote from a while back that he might have to consider moving to Monaco was carefully planned. Of course, the casual Lewis fan won't see through the PR bullshit as easily as more seasoned (and proper) motor racing fans...

garcon magnifique
I'm an unashamed motorsport snob. There are a goodly number of motorsport fans who live and breathe petrol, who actually understand what they're watching (usually because they've taken part in some capacity) and who can read between the lines of every word publicly uttered by every driver (not just Lewis). And then there are the casual fans who - in the UK as an example - have only got excited and involved when they've been cheering on Mansell, Hill and now Lewis. Other countries have the same - F1 was practically ignored in Spain until Alonso arrived on the scene. Same (to a lesser degree) in Australia until Webber. I've been accused of being a fan snob before. I don't mind the casual fans really - it's all money into the sport after all. They just make me laugh when they think they know what they're talking about.

Arch
Heard that this morning, made me think 'what a tw@'. Cemented my Mclaren/Ron Dennis dislike even further. I'll stick with supporting Ferrari (where the drivers don't appear to GAF about the publicity) and not listening to the constant media bulls**t that is Alonso/Hamilton/Mclaren. Se5aScott
Just got this from itv [ QUOTE ] Hamilton said he had now reassessed his initial opinion of Alonso. "You try to understand these people but then the whole idea of what sort of person they are is completely miles out of the ball park," he said. "He is not the person I imagined him to be, but that's the way it is." [/ QUOTE ]
CarMad
Are mind games suddenly not allowed in F1. They have gone on for decades, if he didn't say something like that I'd be worried. Come on people grow up, are you upset Ferrari aren't on the front of the grid or something. He is certainly more eloquent than Kimi and the we are perfect team. RedRobin
Hamilton said today in an ITV pre-quali interview that the best way to hurt Alonso was not to force him into a wall but simply to beat him on the track - Which he then proceeded to do by winning pole. garcon magnifique
A good champion always has the option of forcing his opponent into a wall in his back pocket... just in case. Seriously, it might be stating the obvious, but he's dead right. Of course, he needs to beat him on the track tomorrow not just in quali. On the whole media thing, it's worth noting that we only see the British media view of this, which is inevitably saturated with Hamilton quotes. It would be interesting to read what Alonso has been saying to the Spanish press.
RedRobin
....Agreed. All media can give add spin simply by choosing what snippets to broadcast. I base my judgements on how I read someone's manner and body language as well as their words. As a result, I particularly like Hamilton and also Massa. I like Button too but not because he's a Brit.
