nordberg
Seems the ECU has failed during a routine service. A new one has been ordered from Germany. I was wondering, will they be able to reset the mileage to what it was or will it be zeroed and recorded with the DVLA?
techieboy
Yep, the dealership can match the mileage on a brand new ECU - as long as the new reading is entered within the first 150 miles (or similar) of the new one. EDIT: That might actually be bollox, I think I was referring to instrument clusters. Which might mean the odo reading is stored in the cluster and not the ECU - which means no problem! P.S. Make sure they code all of your accessories properly. Lots of talk of people having ECU's replaced only for bits and pieces to either not work or work differently. nordberg
Thanks for the reply. Now would be a good time to get cruise control fitted then.....Wonder if they would do it as a freebie considering the HUGE inconvenience they are causing me.... iceman2002_uk
cruise control is awesome - had it fitted to mine for just shy of £200 at the stealers when i bought the car... cant be without it now, esp with s-tronic!!!
craigyb
Mileage can be set as long as the ECU has not done more than 100 Kilometers or 62 miles.
nordberg
Well the stealers assure me the mileage can be reset to what it was when it went in so we'll know very soon.....
