cheechy
I've heard rumours of a lineup change by Sony for the PS3 which could include a new 40GB version retailing at £299 around the 12th October. I was about to buy a PS3 but am not sure when now. Anyone got any juicy insider info they would like to share?

Sparky
Don't get the cheaper version. You'll fill a 40GB hard disk in no time.
cheechy
Yes but will that mean an 80GB version is coming out here too with a different price point and games / movie package?
Sparky
There were reports of a 120GB model, but I don't think that will be out anytime soon. They want to reduce the cost, not add to it. Sony confirmed the Movie & Game packs are here to stay, but they don't list what they will be. I think the 60GB is about right, at the moment. You can always replace the hard disk, by simplying opening a cover. Details on how to do it are in the user manual
bullett
HMV deal is good. I thought I did well with 2 games and 2 movies + extra controller (£425) the games were from a selection but the movies were Black Hawk Down and Casino Royale. I can't see the price dropping much more before xmas. Unless they have a really bad Christmas and then there might be some top deals at the end of December. [/ QUOTE ] Thats rumour has been denied by Sony. No matter when you buy a console, its always likely that it'll come down in price soon after. Buy it if the content is there, to make the price worth paying
Woppum
I bought it becasue it is a fantastic blueray player at less than half the price of the fantastic Pioneer model. Well that and Virtual Tennis is great fun!
bazza_g
I'll be taking the plunge soon, will check the offers too as I was looking at 2 games + 2 bluray + extra controller for £425 I've found a few 2.5" upgrade HD's for the PS3 but the biggest has been 120GB - does anyone know of bigger like 200GB? [/ QUOTE ] there's a backup utility on the PS3 that you use when connecting an external drive to it which will then restore to the new internal drive when you've finished the swap

bazza_g
or if you do the swap as soon as you get the PS3 there's nothing to back up and the PS3 will format the new drive when you power it up
