Dave
How cool was the new Fiat 500, on 5th Gear last night?? My daughters only 11, but i almost went out and bought her one I love it, my only concern would be how the body work lasted down her in wet and salty Cornwall
Cupramax
Yeah, I thought it looked cool as well, I learnt to drive in my mums FIAT 500 . FIAT really have got their act together recently, I had a Grande Punto Sport on hire when I went to Australia last month and that was excellent as well. On the rust front I'd be very surprised if their cars aren't fully galavanised now so there should be no more rust worries than with an Audi. Wallachie
I want a new 500, so much so I would consider one as a daily runner when the A4 gets the sack. It would have to be white with all the green and red decals....very cool!
RedRobin
Very cool motor . I wonder if Abarth will offer any hot versions.
Calm Chris
RR keep up . There's been so many rumours for the car 100, 125 and maybe even a 150 bhp job . The Arbarth connection, is synomous with Fiat so it's as likey as JC and BMW working togther for the JC Mini range was, when the Mini was 1st built. We get the car a full 6 months after Euorland- so hopefully the tricker one's will be less of a wait. As a London motor they will be the 2008 fashion accessory
TDiAvant
Very cool car, but I wonder how much the half leather interior and all the other options the car had!
Thorburn
[ QUOTE ] There's been so many rumours for the car 100, 125 and maybe even a 150 bhp job . [/ QUOTE ] I think the 1.4 petrol is 100bhp already, same engine as the Panda 100hp. Literally living round the corner from Fiat (and Lotus, Ferrari, Porsche, Alfa, etc) in Swindon, so might pop out and have a look one day.
winrya
fiats have been fully galvanised since 1995. I haven't seen any rust issues with any italian motors in years not something i can say of any current fords - funny how it sticks Oh and we'll be ordering a 1.4 sport for the missus very shortly, amazing little cars, problem is, its so easy to go option crazy, just like the mini

Newbie123
The configurator on the Fiat website for the 500 is unbelievable, you could spend half a day going through the different options and combinations Fiat

simkna
I had a look around a few at a "customer clinic" type thing in Florence in July. Very nice. Apart from the inside door handles, it feels better built than the wife's Mini. I'll bet the Abarth verison will be a hoot. Si.
Torino101
Does Fiat have any engine in it's current line up that would suit?? The possible ideal would be something like the 1.6 turbo that the Mini Cooper S runs - 170 ish BHP in the 500 would be great fun. BUT there is no way Fiat would ever get it's hands on that engine. 200+ bhp would be awesome - the Exige S' 1.8 anyone??
Thorburn
[ QUOTE ] 200+ bhp would be awesome - the Exige S' 1.8 anyone?? [/ QUOTE ] That's a Toyota, seems unlikely. The Bravo has a 150bhp 1.4 turbo and 1.9 turbo-diesel

S3Rob
Haha, what a great configurator. I must have got mine up to about £30k with all the options on it! They have to make a fast version of one of these. Comedy

Being a 1.4 it should be an easy fit

Mouse
I'd love one, it's a great little car. Fiat are on a role, the new Punto and Bravo are right lookers! On a related small car note, I really like the new Renault Twingo too
Vic
On the rust front, we have a 12 year old Fiat Cinquecento Sporting, It's done 57,000 miles. All the switches and electrics still function perfectly and there isn't a spot of rust on it. Seriously looking at the new 500 to replace a polo.
