AvantSE
My B6 A4 seems to have very slow wipers on the front, even the high speed setting is only just as fast as the 'normal' setting should be. No fault codes showing in VAGCOM. Any ideas chaps? Cheers.
dhali
Have a look at this , applies to a B5 model maybe you have same problem? http://www.audiworld.com/tech/misc.html
Chris_B
[ QUOTE ] Any ideas chaps? [/ QUOTE ] Random thought*, but do you have rain-sensing wipers? If not, the car's not coded up for them or anything is it? *I don't even know if rain-sensing wipers were available in that model year.
PetrolDave
AFAIK rain sensing wipers weren't an option on the B6, and they only affect the auto setting - with the wiper switch on normal or fast that's the speed the wipers go at. steve2
i have had the same problem a few times and just give the splines a bit of a clean and use some easing oil on them

nicknick
If it is the problem linked to then I'd get a new linkage from Audi. I just did my mums Golf Mk4 and the entire linkage was £38 from VW a a guide. Getting the spindle out is very hard and you run the risk of breaking it anyway. You can test if the drivers spindle ( it's always the drivers side spindle on gold so assuming it's the same on A4) but giving it a good spray with WD40 to see if that eases the slow speed. AvantSE
Will have a look at it this weekend. They didn't seem quite so bad today, but still slow compared to the other car. Oddly, the rear one is like a dog's tail wagging. Too fast in fact.
JimLoskot
I've just had this problem and have removed the linkage from the car with great difficulty. Both sides where well seized so that motor must have a lot of power just to move them slowly. I did one side no problem and whilst hammering the other spline out the bar broke, I've just been quoted about £53+VAT for just the main piece accross which I need but this seems expensive to me. Anybody got an alternative place to get these from which might be at a reasonable cost, preferably near manchester, since vag parts are gone? JimLoskot
BTW the following 2 web pages were very useful in helping me to do this: This one for the actual mechanism: AudiWorld Tech Articles and this one for removing the wiper arms: Waks Wide Web
