Screamer
Hi, First time poster, long time reader. About 6 months ago I bought a 2005 MK5 Golf GTI. Having come from a lightly modified Subaru WRX I felt the golf in standard form was lacking performance so decided to get a remap. After months of research (mainly on this forum) I decided to go for a Bluefin. Installation was straight forward and I couldn't believe how much difference it made. The car has been transformed! Anyway, I've been blasting around for the last couple of months grinning from ear to ear but now the car has developed a fault. I've read on this and other forums that the OEM diverter valve and pressure circulating valve have a habit of failing (especially on remapped cars). I suspect my DV has failed as the car doesn't appear to be holding boost anymore. When you accelerate, the car seems to pull well initially (maybe for first 500 rpm) but then it feels like the turbo isn't doing very much. How can I tell if it's my DV or PCV that's failed? Has anyone else experienced similar issues? Thanks!

Screamer
Thanks for the tip. Can I move a post or do I have to start a new one?
Rustynuts
I've just reported this post so the mods will have a look. One of them will move it for you, I'm sure.
TagnuT
Have a word with RedRobin see if he can help. I know he fitted a Forge DV.
AlexM
Hi Screamer, It probably is the DV, mine went pretty soon after my remap (also Bluefin). I've replaced it with the Forge one and everything is back to normal. It's a cheap plastic one that comes as standard which is fine for the standard map but once you increase the boost presure it rips.

Screamer
As it turns out Forge Motorsport is just up the road Booked in for next Wednesday. I'll let you know if it sorts the problem out. After some more spirited driving today, I'd like to revise my initial post. The car doesn't appear to be holding any boost at all. Hard acceleration is accompanied by a faint whistling noise (sounds like air is escaping from somewhere). Will booting it around with a suspect DV do any damage? Thanks
RedRobin
....I've just seen this thread again. Sounds very like a ripped diaphram on the stock DV. Don't drive hard. If your car is DSG, stay in D-mode and don't make the engine rev hard, especially in third gear which is usually the zone for most turbo boost. Please tell us the outcome
Screamer
Normal service has resumed Had a new diverter valve fitted at Forge today (only £35 to have fitted)and the car now performs as it should do. I had a good look at the old valve and you can clearly see a small tear. A few people on this forum have mentioned they can hear a whistling noise from the turbo when driving some GTI's and not others. I noticed mine was getting quite noisy before this went wrong so maybe it's a tell tale sign that it's on the way out.
