Crusader01
Gents, Anyone know anything about the 1.8T ? I hear its available to order but its not on the configurator thingy. Wonder if it might have DSG / Stronic? and enough bhp and why not a 2.0T? Any info / links appreciated. C
Nelson_R32
It's been available for about a month now, but Audi have sch good marketing that they don't tell anyone. It has 167bhp and does 40mpg; however if you spec it with Sport park and DVD Sat Nav it comes out at a rather rediculous £30k. I imagine its a great combo, but I feel the A5 range is at least a £1000 overpriced on every model.
Nelson_R32
Also, no DSG; engine is mounted the wrong way 2.0T - Will be available at some point, but I reckon at least 12/18 months away.
Crusader01
Nelson, Thanks for that, don't suppose multitronic is available on the 1.8T? Thanks again. C
wyliss
How about the 3.0 tdi quattro?, I heard one the other day and it sounded superb. Fuel economy and speed are good too.
Ian_C
[ QUOTE ] How about the 3.0 tdi quattro? [/ QUOTE ] Another £6410 over the 1.8T. Having said that, the 1.8 must feel pretty slow, plus can you imagine the embarrassment when your mates ask you what engine is in your new 30k A5 coupe? Nelson_R32
It's actually a brilliant engine in the A3, but I'm guessing it needs that extra 7bhp to carry that weight. No Multitronic for 1.8T cheapest Multi is the 2.7TDi which probably makes more sense anyway as you need to shell out £750 extra on the 1.8T for the Xenon (and LED) lights. Crusader01
Have been considering the 2.7tdi, with the Auto & a few extras it works out just about within budget. Just a bit concerned about switching to the dark side as opposed to staying with petrol. Would be tempted with the 3.0tdi were it available with an Auto, rather feel I have done my time in the manual world. Having said all that hopefully going to have a go in a 3.0tdi Manual on Tuesday. Thanks C
cruiser647
The V6 TDi's do sound great. The 2.7 TDi goes well too - and that was in the A6

[/ QUOTE ] Why so long a wait for the 2.0T Nelson? [/ QUOTE ] I guess , and it is only a guess, that looking at the emission figures for the 1.8T they are so good that nobody would buy the 2.0 at this time.Bear in mind that the 3.2 FSI is better than the 2.0 and waaay better than my '04 B6 1.8T quattro ( 1545 kgs and 226 gms/k). I think I would consider a 3.2 ( or possibly TDi) rather than any of the others. I bet they are refining the 2.0 for low emmissions.
Crusader01
Heres the 3.0tdi sport I tried, nice, fast etc but can't help feeling I would prefer an efficient petrol auto. C
