ocrp
The rear door of my 1.8 SE '99 does not always open upon first click of the key fob. It will require a second push and then pops up. This is especially common when the doors haven't been locked/unlocked for a few hours. I am able to open the lock from the inside once the other doors have been unlocked, so it isn't deadlocked. Is this something that can be sorted by removing the door card and cleaning out the mechanism, or is an electrical or mechanical issue?
Guest
Probably mechanical+electrical. These symptoms are consistent with either dry solder joints in the locking mechanism or else cracked wires in the concertina between the door and b-pillar. It is possible to pull the rubber concertina and physically check the insulation on the wires for cracks. If it is cracked, the best thing to do is either a replacement loom or solder new wires across the cracks.
drpellypo
Or... a wet central locking unit in the rear door.
