spikeyboy
Seriously considering buying an RS4 Avant. Been looking at the Audi web site for used RS4's and its all a bit confusing with what optional extra's there are as every Audi dealer seems to have different ideas on what to list, including items that are standard. So can anyone tell me what is standard and what optional extra's there were (including any packs - comfort pack etc. Plus what were in any of the packs) Thanks

P_G
The one at Finchley Road Audi looks fantastic value for money. Mugello Blue, looks like tech pack plus light pack, 1,000 miles, sunroof, sports Recaro's and all for £48,995 That was my ideal car when I was looking and until I got my RS. Merlot
Remember, RS4 = no comfort pack option.
Adam
Std kit is as follows 19" RS wheels metallic paint climate Bose Bi-xenon lights heated front seats flat bottom RS wheel RS buckets with inflating sides electric bolster or full y electric recaros 4 leccy windows lighting pack storage pack cruise control front rear park sensors front armrest was NCO common cost options: satnav adaptive lights (swivel) CD changer (these 3 were the tech pack until satnav dropped to £500) TV tuner ipod connection instead of CD changer sunroof auto lights/rain sensor/auto dim mirrors sports suspension plus rear sideguard rear blinds rear heated seats horrible multi function wheel (may be NCO) 2 bluetooth options (both rubbish as you either lose the RS4 wheel or get a nasty looking cradle on the dash) extra costly leather choices ceramic brakes (mega cost and front only) suede wheel and knobs coolbox

P_G
Regarding the bluetooth option, best get the Nokia cradle version rather than the MFSW and I know a man who can replace the centre console and the cradle at a later date within an hour for a few extra notes. Adam
agreed - with the cradle the trim can be replaced relatively cheaply. without BT option - get craigyb to retrofit BT without the cradle

HanS8
Regarding Optional extras, my invoice reads as follows RS4 avant basic price 51,019 Delivery 577 Ceramic Brakes 4,235 Technology pack + 6CD 2,295 Electric Front Recaros FOC Heated Front/Rear Seats 200 Auto Dim RV mirror/DRL 200 Double Glazing 400 Glove Box Cool Box 55 Auto Air Recirculation 130 Solar Sunroof 1175 Front Armrest FOC RS4 Floor mats 355 Tracker Monitor 345 12 Month Tracker Subs 119 12 Months Tax 210 Registration fee 38 OTR TOTAL INC VAT: 61,354 (owch) I think from memory the 19" wheels were a cost option but aren't shown on my invoice because they are included as standard with the Carbon Brakes upgrade as the discs are too big to fit under 18" wheels. [/ QUOTE ] nonsense! 19" wheels are std (18" wheels are a NCO if you wish to never be able to re-sell your car ever). You really did pay £4k+ for just the brakes and even then only on the front wheels. I hope they are very good
HanS8
Well i stand corrected, my mistake, i read several popular press reviews that had all said 18" wheels were standard and 19" were upgraded, the only discussion i had over wheels was pricing on titanium 19" rims under the exclusive program. what i don't understand is how they can fit 18" wheels without changing the standard brakes? the audi website says the standard discs are 18" so therefore you would need 19" wheels to clear them, if you fit 18" wheels do they fit smaller brakes??? The carbon brakes are fantastic, the RS4 was such a bargain compared to the new S8 i just ticked everything.

Nelson_R32
[ QUOTE ] i read several popular press reviews that had all said 18" wheels were standard and 19" were upgraded [/ QUOTE ] Only in Europe; the RS4 was designed and devloped on 18 inch wheels but Audi UK wanted 19's as standard as they like to have big wheels on UK cars. Personally, I would have 18's if I were ever to buy an RS4. I've heard they ride/handle better for it.
TDiAvant
I think 18" wheels would look lost in the arches, but would have considered put 18" wheels for track days.

[/ QUOTE ] I agrree with your general premise - modern taste is for bigger wheels despite the fact it can worsen ride/handling. That said you will struggle to find any RS4 specced on 18" wheels. I have only ever seen one - a mugello blue one at a main dealer that was £2k cheaper than other similar cars and still did not shift for ages. Also 19" wheels design is much nicer than 18" design. PetrolDave
Having owned 2 B6 S4's before my B7 RS4 I can say confidently that the RS4 rides much better on 19's than the S4 does on 18's (there's a "washboard" stretch of road near home where the S4 shakes your teeth out, but the RS4 because it has softer springing - and much improved anti-roll and -dive - makes suspension noises but saves your teeth) - no need to even consider the 18's for ride reasons. I got an RS against my S4 with better spec, lower miles and 19" wheels in a deal that was £8K better than that dealer was prepared to do business with me for. Adam
crazy - did the dealer say why the original owner specced 18" wheels
P_G
He had heard the European models had 18"s on them and that it would have better handling. Shows you how long they have had it though, I talked to them about that car on the 2nd week of August and they had already had it a week, so nearly three months later and it is not sold. Should have taken me up on my offer.....
spikeyboy
am i right in saying that no memory seat option is available on the RS4 ? can it be retro fitted ? seems a crazy thing to leave off the options
P_G
Memory can be sourced with the Recaro sport seat but not buckets IIRC.
