nickbutler
Why is the most important Grand Prix qualifying in 20 years not being shown live on Itv 1? I do not have digital and therefore can not see it on Itv 4. Plus to put it on at 11.50pm on a Saturday night after the world cup rugby! How many people to think will get to see that?!! Every qualifying this season has been live. Why is the most important by far, not live? Itv should be ashamed of itself! "Bring the grand prix back to the BBC!!!" Oh and for it to be replaced by X-factor IS THE MOST INSULTING THING EVER!!!!!!!!!! WHAT IS ITV PLAYING AT!!!? W A N K E R S !!!!!!!!! ITV Wales didn't even bother to show the Italian GP. Not even delayed. All we got were the "highlights" of the race.
Luke
ITV are sh1te, loads of long adverts totally messed up the viewing. Bring back BBC, please!
AyKay
I agree that I'd much rather it was back on the BBC, but it would require Bernie to have a major lobotomy and change from money-grubbing conniving twonk to charitable benefactor overnight to have this actually happen. Seriously though, you can pick up a digibox for about a tenner today, and you'll be up sh*t creek if you want to watch any telly in a few years time without one. Get it together! Get it together! [/ QUOTE ] That helps with the ITV4 problem but not the rest. The digital broadcasts are still chock-full of adverts, and when a region decides to drop the race and instead show a bunch of egg-chasers rolling around in the mud, the digital broadcasts carry that substituted programme too. The problem is that ITV1 is regionalised but ITV2-4 aren't, so if ITV1 Wales decide to show something else, ITV4 doesn't change to pick the dropped programme. It really annoyed me when they had all the complaints a couple of years ago after they went to adverts a couple of laps from the end of the race. James Allen's on air announcement at the next race was "Sorry, we didn't want to, but we were contractually obliged to." as if ITV didn't have a choice. But ITV chose to sell airtime during the Grand Prix, no-one was holding a gun to their heads, they signed the contract. If they did a deal with advertisers to replace all the cars with computer-generated Coke bottles or McDonalds burgers, would they use the same excuse "Sorry, we din't want to but we were contractually obliged"? jb44
Ah yes, the irrelevant musings of an Audi driver. Your arguments are laboured, and boring. Good luck with your petulant response. Johan
mrmaniac
Sir Johan... either that was a deliberate dismissal of the gentleman due to him driving an Audi, or it was a rather unjust put-down of what was a perfectly reasonable post!! What say you?? mr_m

AyKay
Yup, there's still plenty of ads, but how do you think that ITV hangs onto the F1 instead of it going to Sky? It has to pay for it and it does that by selling advertising. These advertising contracts are agreed well in advance of the season in most cases, and ITV had to show those ads during the race. The producer screwed up in that famous race a couple of years ago by not going to the ads until too late. I agree that its crap that we get our viewing interrupted by ads but thems the breaks - I bet you wouldn't like to pay a whole heap extra on your BBC licence fee either to get the covearge ad free either. The only way you'd ever get it to work is by having a "half-time" in the race like they do in football - i.e. having two shorter races instead of long ones. Personally I think this would be a better format anyway but that's another argument. As for the digital regonalisation thing well meh, you have a point but you need to go and whinge to ITV1 Wales and tell them what a bunch of useless feckers they are, but I guess you already did that, right? Actually if you haven't done that yet, please do and I'll join in as I'm moving to Cardiff soon and I don't really want to have to fork out for a new telly after I've punched the screen in on mine... I hadn't considered Sky. Having just ditched Murdoch's lot after being a subscriber for 16 years I'd have a right old dilemma if they got the rights to F1. Perhaps I'd better count my blessings... Maybe if we pay for it by cutting the number of Tellytubbies down to 3, that Dipsy's a waste of space anyway. Tifarsey
Ah, the joys of ITV programming. Should we be glad that the frankly atrocious Mssr Rosenthal has been replaced by someone who at least knows what a car is, or lament the fact that Mssrs Allan and Blundell are still gainfully employed? Also, when will someone finally lose their rag with the awful Ms Goodman and insert her entire sound crew into her ragged catflap, prior to pushing her own head up there too? These and many more questions remain unanswered, perchance for us to ponder during the ad-breaks, which stay timed to perfection to be on during any worthwhile activity going on within the race...
