felty
After being slightly disappointed with the performance of my MkV07 GTI for the last 6 months, I've suddenly noticed an increase in acceleration and torque throughout the rev range in any gear. The car has just done 5000 miles and hadn't expected the engine loosening up quite so dramatically! The torque just feels in a different league, a real kick in the back of the seat. Has anyone else come across this before? The only thing I can compare it to is the kind of performance I'd experienced when the engine is cold, where I really noticed the car had a lot more urge for a minute or so before it warmed up. Luke
could be that the cam lock chains have now bedded in or the piston header tank has cleared itself....
Chungster
maybe it's just the colder weather.......

robe
yep, had a similar experience - i'd say mine was about 8-9k but a definite improvement. if you find out why i'd be interested makes you think - does vw give out press cars with sub 5k miles on? if so are the magazine figures all a bit off? RedRobin
It's well known that VeeDub engines are built a bit 'tight' to begin with (German virgins! ). At least, that's how it used to be.
