No wonder they are called the stealers. My car was in for a minor matter and I said to stealer as its going on the ramp please change the fuel filter there is a new one in the boot. Good thing I asked the cost first, £70 plus vat. I said forget it. Next day I poped at a friends work place and in exactly 10 mins job was done and a pint for him for the use of the ramp ie £10.00 and walla, all is well. Car is a D2 A8 97 2.8.

You need a small container my tank was 3/4 full so I put a large pan underneath but in the end including what was in the old filter, I would say just over a cup full. Ps I recommend you buy the four washers seperately for the filter banjos and do not rely on the old ones. New ones do not come with the filter. There are two different sizes about 0.80p in total for the four. Certainly a very quick and easy job. Whilst its on the ramp if your handbrake need taking up a notch or two as mine did, then use that opportunity. Ps I did not disconnect the battery though recommended, or release any pressure it was that simple.
