Henry52
Quite dissapointed to go to the car this morning and find the battery flat. Haven't used it for 4 days apart from opening the door for 30 minutes yesterday to fit the de-lock kit. Battery is a VW replacement 15 months ago. Thought it would last more than that. Mook
I went through three batteries during the life of my R32 - it depends on what type of journeys you're doing (i.e. stop/start short journeys/commuting). 15 months seems a bit short, though. Henry52
My wife uses it during the week for short journeys to work and back so that probably accounts for it, must try and get into the habit of once a month sticking it on the trickle charger overnight. Thanks for the feedback.
Tarmac_Terrorist
I got one of those CTEK 3600 charger / conditioners as my car only gets used now and again. You can wire a simple weatherproof plug socket on to the battery terminals (which comes with it). This is instead of using the traditional croc clips. The connector socket neatly hangs out of the plastic battery case making hooking up easy. You can leave the CTEK on for weeks at a time as it only charges when the batery power drops. jonlarge
Mine went flat over christmas last year too. I put it down to the cold weather, and that I was using a Dension iPod adaptor - my iPod seemed to indicate that it charged even when the ignition was off. Ended up getting a new battery across the Christmas hols. Since then I've never left the pod in the car, and I've just checked that (after a period of sitting on the drive) she still purrs! Henry52
Thanks for the info Tarmac. I already have one of those CTEK chargers, it's normally hooked up to the BMW, they are really good bits of kit. I have that arrangement on the BM where it's permenently attached to the battery and then just a quick plug in when I put it in the garage
