shao_khan
Anyone know where I might find technical info on Audi and VW engines. I am curious if there are any similarities between the Lupo / Polo GTI 1.6 16v and the Audi 1.6 FSi engines? The lupo is more powerful and has variable valve timing, but I was curious if they were similar block with different head, etc or just totally different. steelwind101
I dont know exactly. The FSI units have a different "stratifed" combustion chamber as well as different injectors etc. I would assume they were all new, built from the ground up around the new to VAG group high pressure direct injection tech. Cupramax
Doubt even the blocks are the same...The Lupo motor is just a conventionally injected 4 cylinder 16 valve with a cast iron lump. The FSi motor is all alloy high compression (12.0/1)direct injection unit with variable intake geometry but not tuned for power.
shao_khan
Cheers - I am just looking for ways to get more power from the a2 - and I know you can get upto 200bhp from the lupo / polo motor without the need for a turbo / blower. Mook
There's bound to be some nutters on the A2 owners club forum who've tweaked 200+ bhp out of their toys
