AUD1
Am I right in thinking that SE phones work best with the Audi BT The reason I ask is because I've just got 4 upgrades, 2 N95's and 2 K850i's but only need one of them so need to know the best ones to get rid of. Or would I be better holding onto my K800i that I use at the moment. If it helps the car I'm getting will have the widescreen satnav, no handset holder and the full BT. I want to be able to see incomming, misted calls and also my phone book. Thanks
craigyb
Do you mean you have the SAP system without a cradle plate? Which car is it? I would recommend the N95 for SAP and the K850 for the normal BT system with HFP.
TDiAvant
Looking at your other posts you say you buying an S4, but if it does not have the cradle then BT would have been retrofitted, so I would go for the K850.
AUD1
The dealer told me that I could have it working on the satnav without the holder. It was one of the things that I told him I'd have to have. Do you think that he is trying to pull a fast one with me because I'm a woman. As for the car, it's either going to be an A4 3.0TDi cab or a S4 cab, looking like it's going to be the S4 It will be on a 56 up plate, the one with the 4 exhausts instead of 2 Craigyb, I don't know what you mean sorry
craigyb
Well as you said there was no cradle, it could have been the cradleless system fitted into the new A6/A8/Q7/A5. But as TDI has clarified it is an S4, so the only option is the standard HFP (hands free profile) BT system. The K850i would be the better option. AUD1
Right, I have talked to the dealer again and it seems that the car in question has full BT with a bit you can ad a holder too but not the Audi phone in the armrest. I asked him about the holders and what phones they match too and he just laughed and said notting I'll have used in the last couple of years. He said that the BT would work the same without this holder in the car so if it was a dealbreaker he have it removed but it needs a new dash. Is he taking the piss now. I don't trust dealers. He's making out it's a big job.
Nelson_R32
To remove the Phone Prep Mount you would need to replace the Centre console; £65 parts + about £250's worth of labour. Audi now have a cradle for the K800 anyway although we're the only Audi Centre in the UK that hold them in stock (because I always keep an eye on new Phone cradles coming out and order months in advance )
Nelson_R32
By the Way; the K850 MAY fit in the K800 cradle as the dimensions are milimetres out but I haven't actually seen a K850 to try this out yet.
AUD1
Thanks for the advice, what does the holder to, just charge the phone?
Nelson_R32
It charges the phone and gives utilises the cars ariel for phone reception rather than the phone itself.
