biker_bits
Was working on mate's 1999 A3 1.8, discovered that one caliper on the front was FS3 type (bracket integral with the bearing housing casting) and the other of the more usual sort, like my A4 TDi. Which meant the pads for both sides were different size and design. Quick look on Elsa revealed that the FS3 type is what should be fitted. Not sure what happened there and when this 'mod' was done. Got what looked as the right part from the breakers - complete 'leg' with FS3 caliper and the disc. That was end of November. Only got round to fitting it today - to find that the brand new brake disc from the set was about 1inch too small for the caliper assembly that came from the breakers..... OK for the one that was already on the car! Both calipers are FS3 though! Nothing in the manual to shine any light on the matter! What is the correct brake disc diameter for this car? Were there different disc fits for the FS3 calipers?
CactusGreen
Think they would be either 256 or 280 x 22 depending on the vin number split on the FS III.
