chriswhgrant
Encountered a fault with the parking brake during the festive period whereby a red warning light came on informing me that I needed to contact the workshop. Duly did this and was informed the car was not safe to drive as the parking brake was not operational on the passenger side (an electronic problem). Car is out of warranty so was expecting a hefty bill however the garage informed me the following day that they would be claiming this back from audi uk. I'm presuming they have encountered this problem in the past. My faith in my local stealer has been restored!!
stig414
My issue was ongoing since July. It was very intermittent, however I was told that in the cars early days, they were recalled to have a grommet replaced in the rear calipers/motor area to prevent incorrect signals getting to the ecu. Mine didn't get this done, and now it works fine after a loom and a few other components. Fortunatley my pocket was not raided, but Audi's was! Only once did the brake fail, and it locked on. All other times it worked correctly, but I was just informed it was faulty by the DIS. Audi have been very good in the way they have paid up, but I am still in warranty, albeit extended- best credit card purchase I have ever made! If you get any more issues, get the calipers checked, especially where the wiring enters. Daz
chriswhgrant
They did mention that the sensor was exposed to the elements and this was how the fault occured. I did get the impression that they have encountered this before. Doesn't bode well for future owners when the model becomes older!!
