Hopsta
Exchange 2003 / AD We have a distribtution list (5 recipients), and every now and then one of the recipients doesn't receive the mail. This doesn't always happen to the same person, other than recreating the DL, does anyone have an idea as to why. None of the mailboxes are full or do they have any mailbox rules set. burble
Is it a distribution list or a mail enabled security group? Also, is your Exchange organization running in native or mixed mode? I saw some issues with DL's before switching mine over to native.
Hopsta
Yes it's a mail enabled sec group and our exchange is in mixed mode.
RobK
Does the tracking log say it was sent?

burble
I guess that if you select that group from the GAL and then expand the list it doesn't show all the members? I found the same problem before Christmas and from talking to Microsoft PSS they tell me that it is possible to use a security group as a distribution list it isn't recommended, especially in mixed mode. The way I solved it was to rename the security group, remove the exchange attributes then create a new distribution list giving it the name that the security group had originally (so that people don't have to learn a new DL name) and then added the people I wanted into that DL. There's no problems renaming a group as Windows only uses the name for display purposes. Internally it uses the SID of the group which isn't altered when you rename the group.
