Dave
Is it different if i'm using a router?
RobK
I presume you mean a broadband router with built in switch? If so it's a straight through cable.
Dave
Sorry Rob, It's a 4 way router with 3 PC's.. internet access is via wireless. So PC's 1, 2 and 3 all connect to each other via a 4 way router. (it's actual term on the box is 4 way Ethernet switch)
Dave
What's the easiest was to set them up.. just allow permissions on each, or use one as a server?
RobK
It's only a crossover cable if you're connecting 2 PCs together directly, so in your case you need straight through cables from each PC to the switch. For 3 PCs I'd just share the data out on each one. If you start adding more PCs it would be simpler to have one as a server.
