Figure11
Guys, I am now seriously thinking of doing the job myself. If I bought the tools who would be intereted in hirning them ala Paul W stateside? http://www.audipages.com/Tech_Articles/enginemechanical/tbtoolrental.html What do you think would be a reasonable rental. I don't want to profit just cover my costs. Mike
csh1234
I could be interested, but to be honest I have not priced getting a non-franchised garage to do it. How difficult a job do you think it would be? I believe the front of the car has to come off, but looking at the front of the chassis legs it does not look too bad... jettadeluxe
Front of the car does NOT need to come off unless you are replacing the water pump as well.
PaulW
I have done the job 5 or 6 times, it is sooooo much easier when you take the front end off. In the end, I believe it's faster also.

Figure11
Top Find Nick. Looks like a complete kit is about £170 without the 2079 Harmonic balancer pulley wrench. This I believe is just a Torque multiplier as Elsawin gives 2 torque settings with (350Nm) or without it (450Nm). Just waiting for VAGCOM to come back to me with a price.
