mb
Can one of the sparks on here tell me - is this really that dangerous ? Surely the fuse/trip would just go immediately there was a short ?
patently
I think the question is "how fast is 'immediately' ?" Personally, I'd rather not be the guinea pig that tests that one
garcon magnifique
"immediately" would be milli-seconds. But that would be too late. Only question is who'd feel it worse - the guy mostly submerged, or the one stood up with his vegetables just dangling in the water...?
shark_90
What a monumentally stupid thing to do!!! Where did you get that picture from?
Mattchaps
Oh boy, if only that was the "before" photo, and there was another labelled "after"... It also seems that whatever they have plugged in isn't even being used?! Some sort of heating rack/grill. Stupidity at its plainist
garcon magnifique
Actually, I suspect the reason the grill isn't being used is that it isn't plugged in. Either that, or there almost certainly is an "after" photo or two in a police file somewhere...
patently
Is it perhaps a set-up? The extension lead not connected to the mains, just set up so that it looks like it is?

Chav
interestingly enough fellow scholars if the water is 100% pure, it wont conduct - so no problemo! - they may have pissed in it though, so bbzzzzzz... is it just 110V in germany? a few milliseconds of current wont hurt by the way!
patently
Tap water is never anything near to pure enough. Germany is 240V, I think. It's the US which is on 110V. And for the guy reclining in the pool, a few milliseconds of current through his chest might not hurt, but it will be enough to disrupt his heart. [/ QUOTE ] now this i find interesting... (saddo mode) electricity always takes the path of least resistance. the current wont be that many amps, so will be spread out across the entire pool - he's immersed almost totally in the pool. so as much current if not more will travel through arms/legs etc as his chest?? maybe he wouldn't even notice the electricity going through him. ...............who's going to test??? Chav
maybe it's just me that finds this interesting, but.... hairdryer in bath tub is fine
