Engine sounds like a bag of spanners! :(

Ahoy hoy!

I've got a different post running below this one but I thought I'd just ask this question separately, even though I think it's still linked to the other problems in my other post. Hope that makes sense...

I've now been driving around for a couple of days and the most noticable thing after having the MAP sensor replaced is the fact that the car sounds like a bag of spanners! I know it's a Diesel etc but I read posts on here of people getting that nice "V6 sound" even from a Diesel and I've realised now that I used to get that but don't anymore... Or certainly not nearly as nice as it used to sound anyway!

I'm wondering that when the MAP sensor was broken, the fuel/air mix would have undoubably not been mixed properly and, as a result, cause a bit of blockage in the injectors?

If that could be the case, would one of those little bottles of "engine cleaner" do the trick?!?

Or could I still be sitting on a more serious problem and get it back to the garage ASAP?!?

Thanks,

Ben

Not sure what you can try on this one, but with the mix of fuel wrong, maybe your EGR valve is clogged. (some will come along and tell you where that can be found).

Also, if you can find Millers Diesel Sport fuel injector cleaner - buy it (try eBay) and use it. Great stuff. Also stick in some premium diesel (Ultimate or V-Power diesel)

Hi Cruiser,

Thanks for the reply.

I've just finished a fairly long (150mile) run with it and I THINK it's sounding a lot healthier than it did before! I'm wondering if the long run has cleaned a few cobwebs away!

I will do more research into this EGR valve - if someone can tell me where I can find it and how to clean it that would be a great help!!

Thanks also for the Millers Diesel Sport Fuel Injector Cleaner idea! I'll do a quick search for some!

Hmm... I can only find "Millers Diesel Sport 4"... Is that the stuff you're talking about?
