Nelson_R32
I think as Audi owners one of the biggest gripes we have is the cost to replace a new key. One of the most fatal mistakes Audi owners make though is to visit eBay and purchase an Audi remote key with the assumption that because they look the same they are the same. Pretty much every owner who has ever brought in an eBay key to our Centre to code has always had to eventually order a key from us anyway. Just because the keys physically look the same the assumption is they fit the whole model range. Unfortunately, the people on eBay are either nieve ex-owners or people selling to make a quick buck. Anyway, back to the point Over the last 5 years we have built up a collection of over 50 keys which have either been double ordered or not collected by the Customer. All these keys are still bagged in there part numbers. I've been letting them gather dust for years, but then I thought I could do my TSN friends a favour So, I can offer the following remote keys for the following prices (subject to availability) Old-Style flip key* = £20.00 including recorded postage (please note this is the base key. not full remote) New Style SFG flip key* = £35.00 including recorded postage. * Keys will have blades cut to key number pre-fitted although they won't be cut for your car. You will need to pop to your local Key Cutter to get a new blade cut to your key number. Now, the biggest difference between what eBay offers and what I offer is that I will check the keys against your vehicle chassis numbers to ensure that they are correct and if for whatever reason they are not (unlikely!) I will give a full refund or send another key out. If you are interested in a key. Please PM me with you vehicle registration or Chassis so I can check our stocks. [/ QUOTE ] The key would still need to be coded to your vehicles immobiliser. But buying from me just knocks about £40 off the price of a key

Mook
In addition to the cost above, what does it cost to get the key matched to the immobiliser, and can it only be done at the Audi dealer, or could an independent do it?
mb
I just asked for a VW key & it is 59 to have them matched - I do have vagtacho which offers to match a key but I haven't tried it yet as trying to get a new VW key at the moment. If you wanted me to try for you would be happy to before you spent money am in Poole most weekends.
kite
My dealer wants 1/2 hrs labour to recode the keys to the car, it has to be connected to the main dealer computer in germany to code to the immobiliser. It cant be done with Vagcom
mb
I am going to order a key so by next week should be able to let you know how I get on with vagtacho - it pulls the SKC OK (the bit the dealer can't see) & has an option to match keys so just need a key to try it on now ! Chrisg
I think it can only be done at a dealer but I'm sure Nelson will confirm. He got me a key 18 months ago but I still needed the local dealer to code . They charged me £50 ( iirc half an hour labour - the Dealer's machine talks directly to germany and you have to have ALL keys recoded at the same time. mb
Connected up vagtacho & it pulled my immo PIN (this is a Mk IV Golf 2003 model using the 7 digit SKC) the code it pulled was the shorter 4 digit PIN (which the 7 digit SKC is derrived from). I then used vagcom & sucessfully logged into the instruments & had the option of adding keys etc. so next week I will try to add my new key. If anyone has an Audi they want me to try & pull the PIN for let me know as have only tried with a MkIV Golf.
wrightyrs
Need a SFG key for a 2001 S3 Facelift. Do you have any left? If so let me know where to send the payment. And the key blade, can that be cut at any place? Thanks in advance
Nelson_R32
As far as I know the SFG key won't fit the old S3, only the original type... ..in which case they are £20.00 each The blades are generic to most manufacturers now (Fiat, VAG, Porsche etc) so nearly all Key Cutters have them in stock. I've PM'd you as to where to send payment details
