wyliss
My A4 has these wheels on it and the tyre sizes are 235/40/18. Is it true that the A6 with these wheels on has tyres that are 245/40/18 and will an alloy from the A6 fit an A4 tyre? (i.e 235). Also what is the best thing to look for when confirming it will fit, is it 8.0J x 18 H2 ET43 that is stamped into the inside of the wheel or the part no. 8E0601025AK? shark_90
8.0J x 18 ET43 are the important numbers in all that lot mate. 8.0J is the width, 18 is the diameter and ET43 is the offset
Mook
You can comfortably fit 245 tyres onto 8J wide rims, but there will be a very, very small difference in the rolling circumference of the wheel, so you'd have to have the same size of tyre on both wheels on the same axle, and the same size all round if you're running a Quattro. The 235 and 245 are the width of the tyre in mm. The 40 is the height of the sidewall as a percentage of the width and, as you probably know, the 18 is the diameter of the wheel in inches. Use this clever little gadget if you want to figure out how much difference there is between a 235/40/18 and a 245/40/18: http://www.miata.net/garage/tirecalc.html HTH
wyliss
So basically exactly the same size alloy wheel is fitted to both the A4 & A6 except the A6 has a slighty wider tyre...correct? Thanks for help
Mook
As long as both wheels are 8J, then yes. But you'll have to check the offset (ET) before confirming they'll definitely fit. Look at the inside of your spare if you have a full size and it'll give you the ET.
