bazza_g
Its got the VAG 2 litre Turbo from the Golf GTI so its bound to be one of the fastest cars on the planet On the plus side, a 300bhp remap would translate to a power to weight of 430 bhp/ton

Mook
It looks like one of those angry insects out of a cartoon movie, like Bugs Life or something like that. Looks lioke you get a (very tiny) bit more protection from the elements than you do in the Atom. Anyone fancy buying one and doing a side by side test with the TsNr who's got the Atom (can't remember who!)?
biturbo
[ QUOTE ] Better than an Atom? [/ QUOTE ] No.
Drinks
I like the look of it but all that body work is going to add weight which the atom doesn't have. I think they want a 7K non refundable deposit to get on the waiting list for the first 100 production models. I think they are waiting to see if these are successful before they go into full production. I'll be interested to see what the first owners think. Chav
Why is it £40K? That seems a lot of money for a little bit of car?
fizzbitt
Sounds quite impressive on paper... http://www.ktm-x-bow.com/fileadmin/xbowpress/downloads/X-Bow_TechDat_GB_A4.pdf
Woppum
there are a couple of guys over on puregt getting them. Personally id have it over an atom. It has a longer wheelbase so should be easier to drift. It is alo much safer and bigger. I really like it and if i could afford it I might have considered one... Drinks
[ QUOTE ] It is alo much safer and bigger. [/ QUOTE ] I'm not convinced that entirely holds up as a reason to buy in this segment of the market. I think it's lower but wider than an atom which should make it a right pain to position on the road. I found the atom felt extremely wide when I drove it. Are they making it as RHD? If not then that alone would make it virtually unusable on the road as visibility would be a nightmare. Looks like this sector of the market has some competition which should make things interesting. I'm looking forward to the comparisons between the x-bow, atom and 2-eleven.
Drinks
I don't think the atom is that hard to drift in the right hands either if that's your bag The atom club forum have been discussing it for a while, someone else's viewpoint:- Firstly - I love innovation - something new and exciting and I love a product that embraces new technolgies - all of these seem to fit what KTM are doing. Where I struggle is that the KTM seems to place all of the above over true useability and ownership practicality. For me this car is suited to those that want a good, fun car - that looks radically different and turns heads on the road. It will get peoples attention if that is all that is important to you. For track use - the car seems too compromised. It has a unique design which embraces carbon fibre and yet still isn't a truly lightweight car. On track- one slight knock and it'll cost you a lot of money
Chav
The atom looks much cooler to me. Seems very expensive for an engine on some tubular pipes with pram wheels. @Rustynuts could you weld some copper pipes together for us please @Robin - can we borrow the engine from your GTI @Any old smart car owner - can we borrow the wheels from your pram @Chri5 - we'll need a wiring diagram too @Craigyb - retrofit away, baby! And we'll sell them for 25K a pop. No problemo
