davyk31
My 325 i M Sport Touring is needing new tyres. When buying the car the dealer agreed to replace the rears when needed as they were a few thousand miles from replacement. I am now going to get this done but want some advice on which tyres to go for. I am going to stick with runflats as I am happy with the ride, currently have Michelin Pilot Sports fitted. I also will need new fronts soon so will push the dealer for these but imagine the answer may be no. I am thinking of telling them I want Michelin again, is this the best runflat available in 18" size? I will for sure tell them which tyres I want as I do not want them getting off easy and giving me the cheapest option to suit themselves.
gizze
Definitley the best run flat technology, completely different design to the other brands. Whatever happens you can'yt mix tyres on a BMW, look at the hundreds of posts regarding twicthyness and tramlining on bmwland, always the same outcome, someone has different tyres on the front and rear, match them up and all problems disapear. davyk31
Thanks for that advice on keeping the front and rears the same. Gives me another reason to tell them it needs Michelin fitted. Only downside to that I guess is that when I have to replace the fronts then it will cost me a bit more for the Michelnis but if they are the best then its probably worth it. edo
As said - hold out for 2 of what you have. If they wont pay for the fronts, dont pay them to do them, they'll try and recoup their losses on doing the rears by charging you the earth. They'll also only use a mobile tyre place you can use yourself!
davyk31
So how much should I be paying for a set of fronts. 225x40x18 Michelin Pilot Sport runflats? If I had an idea i may offer them half of it as most to supply fronts when doing the rears.
gizze
Well someone on babybmw has just had to replace one and there are only 4 in the country, and they were all on hold for BMW, he managed to get one off BMW and he had to pay........£300!!! And pay for express shipping to to get it here for tomorrow. That is the problem with these run flats, can't get the things and when you do they are fortunes!! £1200 for a set of 18's is criminal imho.
