OliFH
Started the car and went to pull off yesterday morning, only for the car to make a loud creak/ crack, and stall as I let the clutch out Not sure if the two things could be related but I had no choice but to drive through some deepish water on Friday evening (the last time the car was driven). Not sure how deep exactly but the car was steaming away nicely when I got back (only about 1 mile later), and the fogs were steamed up the next day Any ideas from the TSN collective? OliFH
I did think that - but then couldn't understand why it stalled?
S80PMC
Not sure if this helps, but i've noticed my rear wheels (brakes) have been binding very easily & after only fairly short periods. Guess it's the damp weather (no sh1t). If not expecting i guess this could easily cause a stall.
Veracocha
I have had the same thing (not stall). The rear brakes seem to lock after day or two without use. There is a big clunk when they are free and the car jerks back. Has only been over the last few weeks so could be that.
Brabus
[ QUOTE ] I did think that - but then couldn't understand why it stalled? [/ QUOTE ] Cause the brakes might have been applied and made the car stall?
PetrolDave
[ QUOTE ] Cause the brakes might have been applied and made the car stall? [/ QUOTE ] Second that. After being through the water the brake pads would have got a slight rust film on them, which makes them larger and hence stick on. The crack you heard was the rust film being broken off and the brakes coming off - hence the sound and the stall. If it doesn't do it again the next time you pull away in the morning, then I'd say nothing to worry about.

PetrolDave
[ QUOTE ] Just put a litre of oil in at 1500 miles [/ QUOTE ] Mine used 2 litres in the first 5000 miles, 1 litre in the next 5000 miles and I haven't had to add any since (first service was at 17,000 miles and I've done 19,000 now).
