encee
Well, having had the misfortune to attend around 4000 "accidents" during my time as a Traffic Cop, I`m amazed that the majority aren`t actually at junctions (or right/left turns) as I would say that driver error at junctions has been the majority cause of those I have attended over the years ! RedRobin
....Interesting stats. 30 mph and 60 mph appear to have the highest casualty/death numbers. I still believe that it's inappropriate speed which is more dangerous than just a high mph. I wonder what German equivalent stats are like. Veracocha
I would be interested to know how many high speed deaths there are on the motorways caused by someone driving too fast in relation to deaths by other types of accident. RedRobin
....Me too, Ben . Accidents aren't always as a direct result of speed in spite of what the authorities insist on trying to tell us.
theduisbergkid
The older you are the less likely you are to have an accident - http://www.scotland.gov.uk/Resource/Img/47063/0032389.gif Must exclude pensioners in Automatics forgetting which pedal does what..... RedRobin
[ QUOTE ] The older you are the less likely you are to have an accident [/ QUOTE ] ....Next time (though I hope there isn't a next time!) I'm stopped for speed, I'll have to remember to tell the policeman that I'm less likely to have an accident .
encee
[ QUOTE ] The older you are the less likely you are to have an accident [/ QUOTE ] Unless you walk out in front of a bus, of course..... Honestly, I`ve been to loads of these over the years, and it`s not like you can`t see a bus coming, of course. In all seriousness though, I suppose a general lack of awareness, coupled with fading eyesight, comes to us all in the end. I just hope I`m nowhere near a bus when it comes to me.....as the end result is not nice; at all !
