D1MAC
It does mean that Ashley's bank manager is getting a bit scared about now - KK has never been shy at spending someone else's money and hang the consequences (IIRC, he did a lot for Man City's perilous financial position prior to the Trashcan Sinatra takeover). All that's needed now is for Shearer to add his intense defensive knowledge to the mix and the Geordie equivalent of ‘més que un club’ will be in full flow once again Still, good money to be made from backing more than 3 goals in every Newcastle game (for a while anyway). [/ QUOTE ] Put your tenner on Rafa B being Real Madrid manager at the start of next season instead. Or if you like a risky bet, Barcelona. Unless DIC complete a takeover (and Bernd Schuster wins the league and the CL) then Rafa will most likely pop up at one of those and Jose Mourinho will show his mug at the other (or Anfield). shao_khan
Well at least we used to play exciting footy - lets hope we do again. Gotta be better than a lot of this drivel we see in the premiership at the moment. Pitty our next opponents in the FA cup - bound to be some southern has beens........ DHA
If you beat some northern team you come down to the emirates. For the first of two fixtures against us that week. I am at the league game but not the cup.
330dcoupe
Well, unfortunately, I'm a Newcastle United fan. I'm pleased to have someone like KK in charge again, because he bleeds the club and we'll see some passion and desire pushed back into the club and team. However, I just have this awful feeling that it'll all fek up, again! Let's face it, were a club destined to boll*ck everything up. I just hope KK's back room staff have enough knowledge to give him a low down of all the teams in the league, because he's already admitted to not watching a game for 3 years. I guess football will always be football - you score goals at one end and stop them at the other and you win. This has been Man Yoo's policy for years - forget tactics, concentrate on your own teams strengths. C'mon Kevin, give us some pride back - God Bless you. Maxyboy
Still cant see KK making much of a difference. Surely he cant be the saviour of all things football just because he once came a close second. After completely making a c@ck of himself on live tv! On the subject of coming down to the Emirates, how hard is it to get tickets for any Arsenal game these days!? Would love to go down to catch a game but its impossible unless your spending mega money.

Maxyboy
as an Arsenal fan. I went down to a game the last season at highbury and ended up paying 300quid for two tickets, and couldnt see half the game as the pitch was obscured by the tier above! no wonder they shut the place and moved, really was the worst view i've had at any stadium. the only bonus was they won 7-0 i think. i've looked on their internet site, and they seem to release the tickets in stages. which isn't so good for me as it takes a bit of planning to get down to london. DHA
Have you joined the membership scheme? Its £20 for the rest of the season. I am a red member (the lowest level). Generally the tickets work like this. Season Tickets have their seats for every game (approx 40,000). Silver members get to buy tickets 2 months before kick off. All remaining tickets go on sale to red members 1 month before kick off. If any season ticket holders do not or cannot go to the game then they sell them on the ticket exchange. The only game where I have not been able to get a ticket for is Man Usa and AC Milan. Everything else has been obtainable (sometimes some patience and work is needed but you can get them!). Gabster
NUFC.......I wonder what odds you can get on them going down. Never rated Keegan, looking forward to Villa Park on 09-02-08 three points points for the Villa boys. I am right sick of seeing them Geordies on the TV, they like footie as much as any football fan they aint nothing special, infact they dont support their team when the going gets tough what a bunch of moaners, you watch Big Sam do better than NUFC next season when he is back in a Prem club, I work with MCFC fans and they dont rate Keegan. First sign of stress and he will be gone he has always been a tactical bafoon at NUFC, Fulham, England and MCFC.

I think it is a high risk strategy with a lot of people, probably including yourself, desperate to see KK fail but as Kevin said yesterday if you're not a fan of NUFC then you just don't understand. The fans never really bought into Allardyce, his brand of football was dull and his petty refusal to provide interviews to the BBC rankled the majority. Ashley now has his choice of manager and any legacy of Fat Freddie has been removed. Geordies don't expect trophies this year or next but they want to be entertained and enjoy the ride. And as for making the suggestion that they may go down this season or next - it just ain't going to happen.

As for KK - well I hope that he spends well - he built a good squad last time that could have done well with a manager who can take pressure - Maybe this time he will get a little more support / prssure from behind him to keep his emotion in check. Lookign forward to Villa game as well as it'll be good to get a few points away from home
Gabster
The myth about Newcastle attendances does my box in that they have sold out always every week. Before Keegan came in Feb 92 these are your average attendances, nothing special. 1991/1992 Division Two (Old) 21,012 1990/1991 Division Two (Old) 16,879 1989/1990 Division Two (Old) 21,579 1988/1989 Division One (Old) 22,815 1987/1988 Division One (Old) 21,059 1986/1987 Division One (Old) 24,792 1985/1986 Division One (Old) 23,434 1984/1985 Division One (Old) 26,228 1983/1984 Division Two (Old) 29,881 1982/1983 Division Two (Old) 34,116 1981/1982 Division Two (Old) 17,276 1980/1981 Division Two (Old) 16,001 1979/1980 Division Two (Old) 23,345 Your delusional if you think a tactical idiot like Keegan can cut it in the Premiership today. Loved it tonight there he was coat zipped up over his mouth arms crossed, standing there with on the edge of his technical area, read his body language " Its not going well and I dont know what to do to change it". He always did that the first time, remember him sitting there a Anfield when Collymore scored looking like that, coat zipped over mouth arms crossed sitting there next to Terry Mac before falling behind the hoarding. He insulated every other footy fan in the Premiership yesterday going on about NUFC fans go to the game while the southerners go to the the theatre, shows how out of touch he is. Keegan wasent the reason the City of Newcastle loves Keegan and his team from the mid 90's the reason was Sir John Hall who had some vision and knew what the public wanted. Dont you see he is a bottler always has been he dosent want this know in his hart of harts he knows, but he is thinking of the money, to be truthful if someone waved £3m under my nose for I would have a go. Shao Khan I bet you £100 quid we do the Toon at Villa Park, come on put your mouth were your money is. I will send it you by Paypal and you can send it me when you loose. shao_khan
Dont forget that Our ground capacity wasnt quite so large until the mid 90's. I also think that if you look at Div 2 stats - 20k attendance is pretty good. Anyway - since the ground was finished in 2000 we have averaged over 50000 - which given how crap we are int bad..... With regards John hall - see my other posts - he was a visionary that was done over by Newcastle and the Govrnment, he saw sport for what it can be and what it can provide, shame there isnt many like him. As for the bets - See your PM.
D1MAC
Why do people keep bringing up this Newcastle specialness, more than a club and super attendances bull Newcastle population (2001 census) - 260k - average attendance is currently 52k @ 20%. Number of Prem clubs within closish proximity (say 30 miles) - 1 or 2 tops and very tribal so not much chance of movements & 'cross breeding' Wigan - Population of 82,000, average attendance of 15-17k @ same 20% or so. Number of Prem clubs in close proximity - 6 (inc big clubs such as the two Liverpool and Manchester clubs). Wigan = much crappier at football than Newcastle and a Rugby town to boot. Does that make ickle Wigan more of more than a club than the Geordie nation
