patently
Well, my venerable "New" Road Angel is on its last legs, I think. The sound output is intermittent - warning beeps and Tiff's voice are audible "when it feels like it", and it flatly refuses to update whatever I try. Any suggestions as to what should replace it? I've had to buy a few cables for it and have these installed quite nicely, so if there is anything that will accept the same power cable then that would help! Mook
Talk to Tom (Helfinger) on here. His company is www.speed-detectors.co.uk I've got a Pogo Alert and it's tiny, discreet and works really well
patently
Good site. What are the rough dimensions for the Pogo?
RedRobin
It's roughly a cube: H: 40mm, W: 60mm, D: 50 mm with screen width of 45mm and excellent clear display.
burble
Another vote for the Pogo Alert, it's a cracking bit of kit.
patently
Update. I've been dithering about doing anything. Nearly bought the Pogo a few times, but it adds up: Pogo £250 Spare mount for 911 £30 Spare power lead £20 Wiring in new lead £??? A new Road Angel wasn't too tempting either ... £250, plus bits. Then Road Angel called to make sure all was well, as they had noticed that my subscription had lapsed after 4ish years. So I told them my tale of woe and of my broken Angel. and the nice lady said I could have a brand new Road Angel Plus for £150 instead of £250 ... has a battery inside it so will last while in the 911, fits the same windscreen mounts as my old Road Angel so I don't need new ones, and they can get it to me in a few days. So I said I'd think about it. Thought about it for a bit, then called her back to buy it. Now I just have to wait a few days for it to arrive. Many thanks to everyone for your help. RedRobin
....Sounds like no-brainer! I think that RA are feeling the competition and offering what they can to keep customers. I was very impressed when their "nice lady" (probably the same one) actually recommended the PogoAlert because their RA couldn't deliver my needs. I had the older now discontinued "New Road Angel". [/ QUOTE ] truly excellent customer service there, a rare thing nowdays. they might have a team dedicated to this kind of thing - some call it 'reactivation' - but perhaps bung her some staff praise. highflyin
Looked at a Road Angel and spent a lot of time researching this speed camera dectector subject. But decided on a Tom Tom with European speed camera databased installed. Bough it for the cameras, but like the satnav function as well. Works really well, but doesn't have the accident black spots or known camera van locations. You can download this from a third party site.
