TJC
Looking to buy a used GTI. I went and had a test drive in an 18 month old black one with DSG yesterday and just loved it! DSG is great, really smooth changes and the power was just there. It is 18 months old with 7K on the clock. We went round the car afterwards and noticed that there were minor paint abrasions over the wheel arches (both rear and over the nsf ) - which would not have been noticable on a silver car - and a dink in the front splitter. Apart from that it looked OK. They said they would sort out the paint work and give it a service as one was due. The boss loved the DSG and power but she is now having doubts . I need to be able to convince her to go for it. The reg is SO06 - which is Edinburough. Any advice would be great. Cheers, tjc ---------------------------- She might even let me drive it!! JonC
In my opinion, and for what it's worth TJC, I'm sure you'll be able to find another 18 month old car for the same budget with the same spec witout the scratches, dings and dents. To me, this car sounds like it hasn't been cared for much, so why settle for anything less than perfection? You clearly have the budget and will find a much better GTI than this one - just in my opinion. DSG is fecking great too! God luck
TJC
GTI Jon, Thanks for the advice. The GTI with DSG was just great. You are probably right about the car - I have to curb my enthusiasm - the boss said my grin was as wide as the Channel Tunnel. I'll continue the search. JonC
No worries. Chris_GTI has a Tornado Red DSG 2006 MY for sale with just over 22k miles - check the classifieds. What's your budget if you don't mind me asking?
TJC
I'll have a look. My absolute limit was £22K for one in black or grey with DSG. Boss agreed with you about the scuffs and we believe that the scrapes probably were done getting it in and out of a garage. Just checked drivethedeal and we can get a new one 3dr, rear sensors, DSG for £21565 in grey or black. Also then get access to the servicing! So I am off to haggle - a lot!! If they cannot match the price then drivethedeal will do well. Cheers, tjc

TJC
Wwwwaaaahhhoooooo!! The ultimate impulse purchase - the boss just bought a Golf GTI Mk5 in black with 18" and DSG. She has even said that I can drive it!!! Just cannot wait to get it. Thanks for the advice, definitely better not to get the marked GTI.
