Rustynuts
If you're going to sell the car, get the plate transferred off as soon as possible. It takes weeks to remove it nowadays, not just walking into the DVLA office and doing it there and then. That's about all the help I can be I'm afraid. max_b
private plate transfer is now a pain in the a#se, as said it takes weeks (really starting to put me of having the plates especially if you change cars frequently) anyway, if you have purchased the new car, speak to your local dvla office, you may be able to transfer the plate from your existing car to your new car, thus requesting your replacement v5 to come back in your original number that you had on your existing car (saves you getting a copy in the private number and then another one back on the original plate as it will be march/april before you get to sell you car with the correct v5!) hth
edo
The BMW dealer I bought my used 335d lost the V5. They didnt explain they were a dealer and requested a replacement - ended up adding them as a second owner, and I am now trying to get it removed! patently
You can ask for a replacement easily, although you have to swear that it is lost beyond hope. This is guaranteed to make it turn up a week later.
