grahamb
OK, so I don't buy all the trade mags, or read the Sunday Times car supplements, so this car may be 'known'. I spotted it at Bruntingthorpe Aerodrome in Leicestershire today (Weds 3rd Dec '03) and I thought it must be something special under the skin. So if you've seen it before, apologies. Q) Whats under the skin of the 'unique' Audi A6? So, post away, whats beneath the skin of this 'stretched' A6?
danksy
It's probably safe to say it isn't a ZETEC!
Chris_B
It looks like it might need putting out of it's misery - I suspect some horror lurks beneath the bonnet...
grahamb
Nope, not Ford based.... [clue] And it certainly was heading for the crusher according to the driver. Keep guessing. Another clue, 0-60 is sub 5 seconds.... And those wheels are 19"....
Snail
i had a look round that site, and the only audi on there is a 2.8 quattro, so im guessing someones taken that and put a turbo or more liekly 2 on there. Either that or its a supercharged 2.8.
Hopsta
someone has barstardised an rs6 ? surely not !
grahamb
Nope, its not my A6 Quattro. Notice the extra wide panel between the front and rear door, and the non-Audi Auto Gear selector. The zetecinside bit is my website I was at Bruntingthorpe with the Fiesta, doing another photoshoot. Had an awesome time. Could have done with 4WD as it was very slippy in the wet. Recorded a 0-60 in 15.6s which aint bad for wet conditions (14.72 in the dry). Oh, and the A6 in the pictures above is a Quattro, just not an Audi Quattro! Any more guesses?
Snail
The gear lever looks cheap.........its not a cossie 4x4 is it?
Snail
[ QUOTE ] The gear lever looks cheap.........its not a cossie 4x4 is it? [/ QUOTE ] Actually, its quite high off the ground, and looks wider than a normal A6, couldn't be a V10 diesel engine??? Or maybe one of the big BMW engines from an X5??? Sven
WTF??? It's looking sick, that's 4 sure... Poor Audi! In fact it looks shorter not longer IMO, look at that tiny rear door, that looks smaller no? So, no Ford, no 4wd, those wheels, fast... Did they stick an Audi body on a Vette perhaps? Guess it's someting like that... some Ami muscle?
Drillslinger
Well, judging by the scoop, I'd hazard the guess that someone wanted to make their Scooby look like an A6 Am I even close?
Drillslinger
Wait a minute..... What running gear does the Cayanne use?? Doesn't the exhaust look fairly similar??
Snail
[ QUOTE ] Wait a minute..... What running gear does the Cayanne use?? Doesn't the exhaust look fairly similar?? [/ QUOTE ] I reckon its gotta be something big and off road......those wheels are 19"s apparently, and they look tiny, and the suspension is raised, he says its a quattro, which backs that up, and the scoop implies turbo to me, so its either a huge engined diesel, or a cayenne turbo. grahamb
Well you're all on the right theme. Not a Diesel, nor an X5, but it is sitting rather high to get all the running gear underneath. Performance is 0-60 in <5 seconds, and the engine is putting out 550 BHP. No USA parts on the car, so its not a yank tank in disguise. It could actually be shorter, the rear doors do look shortened don't they. I should have put my std A6 along side for comparison. Any more guesses? Another clue, stay on the 'Audi' theme....
Snail
a W8 or W12 engine?
Mollox
I'm with Drill in that it appears to have a Cayenne Turbo exhaust system. Its bugging me as to why it would need so much bonnet ventilation though.. dunno....
Sven
Yeah, but you said it's NOT any 4wd right? [ QUOTE ] Could have done with 4WD [/ QUOTE ]

Sven
Hmm... was a bit confused by "Could have done with 4WD as it was very slippy in the wet." and then: "Oh, and the A6 in the pictures above is a Quattro, just not an Audi Quattro!" So if it's 4wd a Touareg V8 or V10 maybe then?

grahamb
Sorry guys, the Fiesta could have done with 4WD, I was slipping and sliding all over the place! The Audi in the pics does have 4WD, only its not the native Audi Quattro running gear.
Drillslinger
4-Motion running gear perhaps?? The Passat has a similar roofline, doesn't it?
Sven
928 S4 maybe? If it's not the Touareg, not the Cayenne, close to Audi but not Audi... Running out of options...
grahamb
Not Porsche either. Think 'Le Mans'....
