Too rude for the road

Party poopers at the Driver Vehicle Licensing Agency (DVLA) have banned the most coveted number plate in the UK - because it is too rude for the road.

Experts predicted the registration number V14 GRA would be worth up to £25,000, because of its similarity to impotence wonder drug Viagra.

Hundreds of callers wanting to pep up their cars' performance rang the agency, in advance of the September date for new number plates, but were told the DLVA would not be selling Viagra.

Byron Roberts, marketing manager of the DVLA's sales scheme, said: "As soon as the T-registration plate came out we had requests for V14 GRA. But once we saw it written down we decided it wasn't a number we could let out."
