Merlot
They had to given that the 2.0TDi has quattro. Strange gearbox comment though.
Cupramax
That comment wont have come from Audi, DSG/Stronic or whatever they fancy calling it this week is an automated manual.

Merlot
[ QUOTE ] "Permanent all wheel drive" my ass [/ QUOTE ] Indeed. They boys on the TT forum can't accept that haldex has limitations but then again very few of them will have driven a torsen quattro car.
Cupramax
Having had a Haldex 8P A3 and a B7 A4 I'd go Torsen every day...
Merlot
Having owned a load of torsen cars, my TT quattro has come as a disappointment when the roads are slippy. Its still plenty useful on a dry day mind you.

Thing is, if you spec the 2.0T quattro up with similar things to the TTS it starts to reach the same price (assuming the 2.0T quattro will be about £3.5K more than FWD) so why would you not go for the TTS? Why is it only going to be S-tronic as well - thats weird. and does it mean the FWD variant is going to be worth about £4.45????? Mook
It's not before time that they Quattro'd the new 2.0 TT - I think it was mad to not do it from the start.

To me the TT was always about turbo and 4wd.
Cuprabob
I agree, but it will hit the resale value of the earlier cars without Quattro very hard.
Merlot
Indeed.
forresthills
It's no different to any other market. You pay to be an early adopter. In the case of the TT, both through the non-discounted list price and now the up grade in the spec. This is how Apple make a living. Release product. 3 months later update and the same people that bought it first time round buy it again. Okay, so maybe people won't be chopping their TT's just for Quattro, but the principle is the same. Oh and did I mention it's feckin' annoying too! He says owning every Apple product ever released. Merlot
Indeed but don't assume that people didn't get discounts off mark II TT's, even early on.
forresthills
True. But I doubt that was the case for the majority.

I hardly think that Audi will be too bothered about it, and their customers have pressured them into releasing a 2.0T with 4WD, so they sell more. forresthills
Probably the same people that will pay over the odds for a second hand non-Quattro car from unscrupulous dealers.
lottiefox
My dealer reports nothing about this - nothing on their internal memos and I can't find anything on the Audi UK site. Will it definitely happen in the UK? I'm hearing rumours it will be a European only release, especially in the early stages. Seems mad to me.
