Tarmac_Terrorist
I will probably be detailng my dad's Golf next month. Historically, I have always used Autoglym products. This is mainly because of SRP's ability to hide minor swirls and that a good coat of EGP seems to last so well. The colour is blue graphite pearl and I polish by hand only. The AG products leave a nice shiny glass like finish but I wondered about adding a layer of wax on top of the EGP to give it a wetter look. I have some Clearkote Vanilla Mousing wax kicking around which is supposed to have a decent carnuba content. Would this be OK to put on top of the EGP? I was hoping to apply the SRP, EGP and VMW all in the same day which I assume would be OK too? Any advice chaps?
steelwind101
Hello The Vanilla wax is the chemical cleaner with light abrasives, you will ended up removeing the AG if you put that on top. You can apply the CMW C'nuba Moose Wax on top the EGP but the EGP takes around 12 hrs to cure. Unlike more modern products i dont its not a 98% cured in the first 30 mins. It really does take its time. Geoff
ahaydock
Why dont you use the SRP then follow by two coats of wax, say Victoria Concours. To add to the wetness try a Glaze after the SRP but before the wax, CG EZ Creme or Megs 7. What colour is the car?

So the wax would be OK to apply say 24 hours after applying the EGP?

The car is VW Graphite Blue Pearl - a dark petrol bluey-grey. Looks superb clean but like black for showing defects / swirls!

spikeyboy
Damn didnt know that about EGP - what happens if you dont wait 24 hours and apply a wax over the top after say 15 minutes of applying EGP ?
steelwind101
Hi Spikey, Probably nothing to much other then it wont really protect as it wont cure properly. EGP is acutally based in a solvent, that solvent part needs to gas off then it cures. Sometimes it can leave it looking cloudy as the following product gets caught up in the curing process. spikeyboy
ok - doesnt look cloudy, but in future presume the bast thing will be to apply EGP leave for 24 hours then wash again and apply wax.
Tarmac_Terrorist
I'm surprised that EGP doesn't remove the fillers after applying to a car treated with SRP. I believe that you shouln't use EGP after using AG's Ultra Deep Shine.

It needs a surface this is clean b/c the solvents can make a mess of what is on the acutal surface. What it does with the SRP i have no idea! Tarmac_Terrorist
Also strange, I'm convinced that AG Lifeshine fills minor cobwebbing too having applied this myself to a couple of new cars.
