Cuprabob
Highline computer is a must if it's no standard yet Leather, although the quality is cr@p DSG, really suits the V6 everything else you can live without
sburke1
May sound like a stupid question but is the alarm standard? I only ask because when i ordered my gti in 2005 it wasn't with VW Ireland... Presume the alarm also includes an immobiliser?
Cuprabob
It's standard on the cars in the mainland and yes it also has an immobiliser
Cuprabob
One thing I forgot to add is the centre armrest. The car looks cr@p without it
Maxyboy
Smokers pack, its free i think. cloth recaros, in my humble opinion. no sagging issues. highline as above.
Fergy
highline is standard on 08 MY with DSG
farmerpalmer
armrest and highline are essential as above. Xenons expensive, but good if you do alot of night driving. MFSW saves faffing around while driving, and is a good safety option imo. Cruise is a waste, as i have found out, roads are too congested to cruise anywhere. Nelson_R32
I'd say Xenons are essential as they are part of the standard equipment
Nelson_R32
Oh and personally I think Cruise Control is a must on a car like this, it helps your fuel economy when you need it to.
burble
Cruise control is an absolute no brainer in my opinion - I would never spec a new car without cruise.
Maxyboy
is cruise control still not cheaper to retrofit though?
burble
Yep, but I didn't want the people at the stealership attacking my brand new car with a screwdriver. The cost saving over getting it fitted at the dealership rather than the factory was about £120 I think - an irrelevant cost compared to £30k on the car

sburke1
Ok lads..This is my spec to be confirmed tomor with stealer and the order is then confirmed. -Manual -Pearl Blue -Recaros -Centre Armrest -Sat Nav Is the privacy glass worth the bucks? Is the telephone prep bluetooth? Do you have to have that awkward looking cradle by the stereo? Cheers
Sean_H
Get the iPod prep (if you have/use one), Winter Pack, and I recommend the privacy glass for the ultimate in classy 'Project Stealth' looks
brycey
Chaps, I'm in the same boat and about to place an order. A couple of queries: 1) With the full armrest iPod kit, how much control do you have over the iPod with the stereo controls - can you see track names etc? 2) How much better is the touch screen satnav than the original CD-ROM system I have in my 05 plate GTI? 3) Am I right in thinking the sat-nav can't be combined with the arm-rest iPod kit, but the sat-nav has basic "Aux In" that would take an iPod, and if so, where is the input? Cheers
Ken1
Seamus, Are you trading in your current GTI and if so do you mind me asking what value your are getting ? I assume you are getting the car pre July 1st VRT increase !! I am looking at a 2007 R32 at present .
sburke1
Hi Ken, I'm getting €26k off my dealer for my jan '06 GTi with 62,000kms on the clock.
