Woppum
What a mamouth trip 749 miles in total! I did 200 miles on track and now know it like the back of my hand. It is incredible, so many ups, downs, adverse cambers - very chalenging. I was timed, unknown to me at 1.20 with traffic, so probably 1.13-1.17 I suppose on a clean lap. Anyone know know if there is anything to compare this too? The car ran like a dream, it was the fastest thing there beating both the R8 and a 996 Turbo, even a Caterham R400! so im quite chuffed. there should be a few pics being sent to me by a nice chap I met there so will post up soon enough. steve2
lap record stood to Jeremy Timms (Van Diemen FX) in 1m07.768s, an average speed of 82.340mph.
Calm Chris
Nice one . Those funny light Formula FF1600 things get round in about 60-62 sec laps. Slightly different power to weight. Did you kill a set of tyres [ QUOTE ] Fastest cars on track on the opening day were contenders in the 2000 class of the Stoneguard Mono Championship, which was won by Mark Harrison (Dallara F398). "It's a busy lap and the surface is great. These F3 cars really feel the bumps, so it's great for them. And there are plenty of passing places," said Harrison, who was touching 140mph before braking for the Rocket Complex. By the end of the opening day, the first outright lap record stood to Jeremy Timms (Van Diemen FX) in 1m07.768s, an average speed of 82.340mph. Woppum
Is that the new track or the old? Its bigger now? They tyres were put on monday, id only driven through london in them. They are now probably half gone. I have a supercar silverstone day 23/4 next and in order to keep up with the Caparo I am going to need them to last! I am going to try bulk buying about 4 sets see if that helps ...

steve2
Woppum, i would have thought a R400 would be very hard to beat around the track if the owner was trying Price: £25,995 Engine: 2.0-litre 4cyl, 210bhp 0-60mph: 3.8 seconds Top speed: 140mph sounds like you had a top day
Woppum
Nope and if i told them someone recorded my time (even if I didnt know they were doing it!) it could invalidate their insurance. The question wont be asked. Its early days, ive asked the question on PureGT too and someone is bound to know. I could be wrong but I have a feeling my time is quite good

I couldnt believe it! I knew he was pushing it becasue he was sliding all over the place through the twisties, very well too. I have heard how hard those things are to control when they start to slip and he did a bloody good job! Fact of the matter was though through most the corners I was quicker (had more grip) and out of them there was nothing at all! I never overtook him, was right up his arse though unltil he got the heebie jeebies and let me passed. I am almost positive I would have got the faster lap. Not saying i am the better driver just saying the CSL makes you feel and look like a hero! I even got asked who I race for! haha, its my third time ever on track!!! Woppum
[ QUOTE ] sounds like you had a top day [/ QUOTE ] Awesome! The only drawback was it was a little lonely just me and Stephen King alone in the hotel the night before. Are any of you lot close to it? Shall I stick a link up in the meets forum for a night out then track the next day? I might be able to sort out a discount on a few of us?
Alastair_A3
How is the new track? Ive been around the old layout many times, hope to try the new one in the summer 200 miles on the track is 2,000 miles in terms of wear and tear
Woppum
Wear and tear to what though? Everything seems to get replaced or modified so really it dont make much diffrence! New track is excellent. The best track I have tried anyway by some margin. Makes Bedford seem very very dull! Might try and plan a trip, one day there, next day Oulten in it is possible! Woppum
ONly lost the car 2wice which isnt bad. I did the perfect combo on the corner at the top of the hill when I was taxi'ing. Full drift the the right, flick in round then drift round the next corner. Will have mullered the tyres but well worht it, totally perfect!!! Brabus
Not really. Once you get a well-sorted CSL up to temperature on Cup tyres not much can live with it. Certainly not a lardy, 4wd 911 turbo.

Said many times they're hugely capable in the right hands on the track, but against like for like drivers a 996 Turbo would walk away, as would an R8 & defo the R400. No-one has ever "unknown" to me timed my laps & then told me, must be a Welsh thing Nice piccies Wopp.
Woppum
Im not fibbing or bosting, just stating fact. In the all corners the CSL was faster than everything there. That includes Exige S's too. I was wearing cups and they are miles better than all otehr tyres except Dunlop slicks. Round a tight track like Angelsey it was general consensus that the CSL was in its element. Will be even better once the intrax is sorted. Paul - Round Beford the tubro was quicker than the CSL however i was only on PS2's then.

Mook
935KG - Wikipedia is your friend The one thing that you always need to take account of, however, is the driver - I've chased and easily got past an Exige before in my R32, but that was because the guy was new to track driving, which is fine. Wopps is a mental driver, so stick him in anything and he'll probably drive faster than most sane people who value their lives
Alastair_A3
With the right driver im pretty confident that an R400 or Exige S would piss all over your CSL
