cruiser647
I have watched 5th Gear for the last few shows. Now, I have seen many threads on this forum about it, but I had never really watched the whole thing. Well now I have. What a steaming pile of . What can I say that is good about it? erm - nothing What can I say that is bad:- 1) Their 'car test' consists of a useless track test (ie, Porsche Cayenne v X5) followed by about 1 minute on the North Circular. Utterly useless. Last week was the hot Fester v hot Corsa and you could tell she loved the Fester for some reason and therefore it won the track time 2) They 'chat' about the cars on test outside the cafe - no debate, just facts - the S2000 boot comes with a nice bag, which does not fit in the boot of the 350Z... . Therefore it is more practical WHAT!!!! 3) They try to sound authoratitive (sp) - and fail. Typical - they are now driving the C5 in a nice test. We just watch and laugh. Humble apologies to bods who like it.

Muppetboy
Is Plato still on it? He's good, other than that a pile of shite
cruiser647
Plato's still in. Yeah, he's entertaining!
Tarmac_Terrorist
Agreed, some of the tests are a bit 'sand pit and wendy house'. I enjoyed the insight into Nascar though. It changed my perception that it was a boring circle race. Some of those fans are real petrolheads. It was so refreshing to see a motorsport event appear so relaxed and spectator friendly. CarMad
Personally the more motoring programs on tv the better, no its not as good as Top Gear but who cares. Do I want to see Tiff and Plato giving it plenty in a nice quick car and maybe learn a bit about some other motors, erm yes. Its not perfect but it is better than it used to be IMO. shao_khan
couldnt agree more - dire program, at least VBH made a half attempt to look like a girl tonight. The track tests are a crock of sh173, the car they want to win always wins, as above Fester vs Corsa was a fine example of how she drives one car better than another. I thought it was bad with TIm, but its just got worse.
330dcoupe
I quite enjoy the hippy's test drives. He talks allot of sense. I love this one with the Monaro VXR 500 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m4fFVAIb0KY he also does a column in the 'Top Gear' mag. 5th Gear compared to Vroom Vroom - is Motoring heaven! Woppum
Got to agree, however I just cant be bothered with 5th gear. How they make these fast cars so dull is beyond me. When they had a 30 min programe it as better. Now they just fill the space with shite and adverts!!!
CarMad
Sky+ is your friend, watch the shootout then FF to Tiff or Plato spanking some sexy motor, Done.

[/ QUOTE ] ....I regularly watch NASCAR on FiveUS TV, usually 7:00pm-8:00pm, about 2 or 3 times a week. It's far more exciting than most people expect. The film coverage is excellent and it's even better on a big HD TV with 4 speakers! Buggedy Buggedy Buggedy!!
DHA
Chemmy Alcott The Nascar bit was quite good too. Kind of their Le Mans weekend I suppose.
RedRobin
.... I wondered how long it would take someone to mention Chemmy Alcott in this thread. Very sporting lady with great attitude and a huge amount of fun - Nice looking too, AND a petrolhead! Wouldn't it be amazing if she took up rally driving. ....Guess what Chemmy drives:

Mook
Fifth Gear is just a load of dross. I used to record it and only watch the Plato v Needell bits, but now that's just dull - it's the Plato v Needell driving competition and that's it. Oh and here's our second hand buying tip - make sure it's got a full history. Muppets.
Sean_H
Couldn't agree more Mook. What's more, is it just me or do they just watch the last episode or series of TG and then think: 'well we haven't got the budget or more importantly the production values, but we can still copy all their ideas in a cheap/half a$$ed fashion'
Hell834
I love Jeremy Clarkson, so could watch him on anything. My wish - to meet him in person. There are so many 'new men' out there that it's nice to see a politically incorrect, boozy, bad mannerd bloke ! Therefore, anything with him in it is OK with me.
