a3malawimatt
Come into work this morning and my dads new A8 is on jacks. He has a puncture. Not a problem i think. So the mechanic from over the rd who we have dealt with for ages comes over to sort it out. Can't get a tyre till thursday. Not a problem we can put the spare on till then. Mechanic comes over and says its the wrong size. We phone Wayside audi up where the car was supplied from and they say it is, Again the mechanic disagrees so rings them himself and eventually get through to audi uk who say they won't advise to him fitting that spare. So now we have an audi A8 in the car park on Jacks with no front offside wheel and tyre which can't be easily moved or driven. Dad has no car, this is a bit of a problem for the company director who has to do all the site visits and drives 40k miles a year! Why does audi not have a small stock of tyres they fit to there cars? Its ridiculous. Norwich Audi spent £4m on new premises but can't even stock tyres! Matt Ps. End of Rant. Cuprabob
That is unbelievable. Can you not just call up Audi Assist and as they won't be able to get you moving safely they will need to give you a hire car.
edo
I wouldnt buy tyres from Audi, but I would be on the phone to the dedicated A8 customer services team asking for a loan car since the NEW Audi A8 they have supplied has the wrong sized spare... a3malawimatt
yeah that is last case scenario..... Looks like it is sorted now, The mech has an american puntion repair kit which can repair punctures on curves where as apparently the british one can't so it is temporally fixed for now. should have a new tyre tomorrow. Still a disgrace on audis part. The whole car has been a nightmare. it came down with a nast scrath and dent on it which they knew about but decided to let it go anyway. We got it done and charged wayside the bill. Are there any dealers that are worth dealing with these days? Matt
a3malawimatt
I wouldn't normally buy tyres from audi but it is an unusual sized tyre and needed one in a hurry. Should have got one to the a8 team i suppose but its time and we have a business to run... already lost the morning to this as it is. Matt
graemep
I dont think anyone in their right mind would buy tyres from Audi. My S3 was in for an MOT last year, and was just 1mm over legal on the two rear tyres - the dealer in question quoted more for two tyres than it cost to replace all four elsewhere. cruiser647
You'll be surprised, sometimes the dealer are cheaper at supply & fit tyres!
a3malawimatt
Beggers can't be choosers i am afraid, got a business to run and clients to see and needed the tyre yesterday. As it happends i have one coming tomorrow for £240. So all is not lost. Matt
pingpongpo
My local stealers quote you a price for tyres and then take it down the local 'kwik-fit place' and charge your approxiamtely £20 a corner for the task of doing so.
D1MAC
[ QUOTE ] My local stealers quote you a price for tyres and then take it down the local 'kwik-fit place' and charge your approxiamtely £20 a corner for the task of doing so. [/ QUOTE ] Honda dealer I used was the same, apart from they used an (admittedly decent-good) local indy and wanted either £30 or £40 per corner for the privilege of the YTS boy ragging the car a couple of miles up the road and back Even wanted the same a further time when it was pointed out that I knew exactly what they did and probably where they took the car (and what they charged me as a punter so what they might charge them) - "can't do it for anything like that mate, no way" Also used the ruse of servicing/repairing the car but refusing to do the test drive element in order to put pressure on for those low low priced tyres. Still, it wasn't their only attempt to try and charge for things they shouldn't have or do things that didn't need doing - who ever said Honda service was excellent? patently
I managed to catch the dealership's service department at a very busy time, and they admitted to me where they took the cars. So, since then, I have the phone number of the place that keeps stock of most BMW tyre sizes And they're even closer to me than the dealership! theduisbergkid
Speeds We Bridgeford sold me mt T5R some years ago, and quoted £350 each, plus fitting for 2 new 17" P Zeros on the front. I got 'em for £100 each fitted elsewhere. Robbing sods. Oh, and they never did more than about 7k either, bloody expensive motor.
