DanG
Not been having too much luck recently with the A4, and that go considerably worse today. Last week had the fuel sensor replaced under warranty as gauge was never showing full. Car probably had 2/3 of a tank when I got it back, and smelt of fuel slightly. Today driving about the fuel warning came on, so merrily went off to BP to put £64 of fuel into it. Filled up, went inside, paid, came out to massive puddle 5 foot wide and growing under the car. Looking underneath on the passenger side, there was a cascade of fuel spilling out near the sill. Was forced to drive to our office car park, and stopped again with fuel freely flowing out. This eventually stopped after about 30 minutes, creating a huge puddle! Called Audi Assist – who promptly dispatched a driver, saying he would be there by 10.30am, he actually arrived at 10, so pleased with that! He took the seat out and identified that the seal around the opening in the fuel tank where the sensor was had been replaced incorrectly and showed me that whilst rocking the car with a full tank, fuel flowing out and draining out of the bottom of the car. Long and short of it is that it was then driven, by him, to the dealer who repaired the sensor last week, and they reworked the seal. I also spoke to the Service Manager, who said they would get back to me straight after lunch with an update. Still heard nothing….. Car simply returned by the Audi Assist guy and he showed me the original seal and it had been pinched and would have been far from airtight, it almost looked like the wrong size. Apparently he carried out the work too. Anyway, car back, all fixed and not leaking petrol anymore. Used ¼ of a tank getting there, back and presumably draining some out and some slopping all over the road. Also car stinks of petrol, despite the guy driving back with the windows down. Not even sure anyone attempted to clean it either. Impressed with Audi Assist and Tech who came out – but not with this dealer and lack of contact, particularly as it was their error in the first place. Would it be unreasonable to request a full clean and at least ¼ tank of fuel ?? If the dealer is reading this, which I suspect they do from time to time, you know who I am, call me!!! cruiser647
I think you have a fair case. Sorry - MORE than a fair case. State that they did not do the work properly, and that you were placed in a dangerous car. State also that anybody who was smoking nearby could have caused a major incident due to their shoddy work. Send a Courtesy Copy to Audi Customer Services too. That should/will get the garage moving. That is so dangerous - obviously did not test drive the car. kite
That is just shoddy workmanship, how can a dealer allow a car to leave their workshop in such a dangerous state. You deserve a full clean, inside and out a a tank of fuel at the very least.
DanG
Still no call from the Service Advisor or the Service Manager who I spoke to yesterday. I would have at least expected a call to explain why this happened and to apologise. When I spoke to the SM yesterday he implied that as it was lunchtime he was doing me a favour by taking my call – and that it was something he would not usually do (!!!) Given that we have bought new from this dealer and have serviced with them for years (albeit on and off) - I am utterly utterly disgusted. They have lost a customer, I will be complaining to them and Audi UK. I also have photos on a camera phone with the fuel pouring out. I will try to post when I am at home so you can all see the extent of the leakage.

EssFour
[ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] Name and shame them... [/ QUOTE ] Ditto, it's utterly unacceptable. [/ QUOTE ] Totallly agree. I would be on the blower to Audi Customer Services. Also I would call them again and let them know that oif if you do not speak to someone immediately you will call the local rag. That job they carried out seriously compromised your saftey. As stated above a discarded fag end could have lit you up like a bonfire. Fully valet and tank of V-Power would be a good start. Name and Shame. They do not deserve our service.
DanG
Still no call from the service manager - whom apparently never got my message to call him. Despite the fact I spoke to him directly!!!!! I would have been pretty quick at coming back if my service department had a vehicle returned with faulty work we carried out on it let alone an incredibly dangerous fault causing a 6 ft puddle of fuel around the vehicle. Absolutely fuming now. Will name when I have eventully spoken to them. What about a contact detials of Audi UK?? Anyone got a number? (will do a search now)

DanG
Picture of leak off camera phone, although this is after most of the fuel went over the garage forecourt and on the road. Its not dripping, its streaming out, but it doesnt show it that well. Even so it was obviously not checked. To this day i have not had an explaination or apology, and whist I have been granted my request of a tank of fuel and 'valet', I am not going to bother. Would rather not have them anywhere near a vehicle again.
