bodger00
Can anyone explain what someone with a 55 plate MY06 car will have to pay in 2009-2010 and then on???????? I have looked at the budget tables but im not sure im any wiser
RedRobin
....They are very confusing and typical of govn'ment . As I understand it: The GTI with 194 g/km is currently Band F and as such the tax payable in 2009-10 is £260 as it then becomes reclassified as Band J. The VED then goes up to £270 in 2010-11. But if you bought a brand new GTI in 2010 the first year's VED would be £425!! (assuming the 194 C02 rating for the GTI remains the same). It's not going to stop my driving habits!! Hope This Helps

Gemmzl
Could someone post a link to the new road tax site? I'm thinking of buying a GTi or Edt 30? I take it the two will be in the same band?

Gemmzl
Thanks for the links guys. So where would the R32 2003 go? Really confused right now. EDIT - sorry being thick here. Band F it would be.
Snoopy
A know a few people after hearing the budget saying its just another reason not to buy new and buy secondhand which is oddly if you think about it what the top bands have promoted for a couple years now. Just an anorak question. Does anyone know when officially it went from been called 'road fund licence' at that time the goverment got snooty if you called it road tax or a tax disc, to then been oficially called vehicle tax or tax disc? RedRobin
[ QUOTE ] I wonder what band my remapped GTI is [/ QUOTE ] ....You mean what band it strictly should be. But the bands are set and fixed according to the manufacturer's official ratings (not remapped). As someone else posted: They are as accurate as official mpg figures - In other words, inaccurate! Scarlet_Pimp
One day, and I hope it's soon, the great British public (and that of the Western World) will realise they have been party to the biggest con-job the world has ever seen. They said it was Global Warming. They said we were all going to die. They said it was our fault. They said we had to pay all our governments and retailers lots more of our money to make the world right again and to stop us from having a guilty conscience. They said "trust us, we are scientists and your government and we are never wrong". I say... F*ck off Global Warming. It's a myth. The Earth has been warming up and cooling down since the dawn of time. We have got f*ck all to do with it. Wake up everyone. Until then, I will drive my evil planet killing GTi at full throttle as much as I f*cking well like.

The backdating part is the worst part of the change I think, becuase people had made investment decisions in cars prio to the 2006 cut off, now, thats been changed to 2001. nutkins
Just imagine if all car manufactures were able to suddenly create all their cars (including performance cars) fall into Band A, IE attracted no road tax. See how quickly the government changed the goalposts then, and find out how much it's really about saving the enviorment! I'm honestly tiring of this country now and am getting sick of being bent over again and again :-(
TagnuT
Now its an even bigger excuse for certain members of society to not pay their road tax!!!
