S3ENVY
Okay, so I have a K850i and phone preparation in the FCA of my S3 including the RNS-E nav unit. The unit has never previously had anything paired with it before now and on reading the relevant section of the instruction manual, it mentions that I need a cradle for the first instance of pairing. Just wondering if there is a process which allows me to use my K850i with the RNS-E bypassing the non-existant and never to materialise cradle? Thanks guys. craigyb
you dont need a cradle at all, just put the key in and search for the phone prep from your phone. passcode = 1234
S3ENVY
Cheers Craigy, I'll give that a go! So is the "cradle required" in the manual an effort to promote even more spending on the customers part?

[/ QUOTE ] Yes, it's absolutely not true. I don't have a cradle and the three different phones I've had (Nokia 6310i, Nokia N70 and HTC TyTN II) all paired! (The N70 suffered all the well documented problems with Symbian based Nokia smart phones).

PetrolDave
[ QUOTE ] Nice phones .the N series [/ QUOTE ] Hmm... not sure about that. I used to work for Nokia and used to think that I would only have Nokia phones, but after the problems I had with an N70 and Nokia's total inability to accept that there WAS a problem, I've gone right off Nokia phones. My last two phones have been a Sony Ericsson K710i and an HTC TyTN II - both of which work 100% with the Audi Bluetooth. From what I hear the N95 8GB (but not the standard N95) works OK with the Audi Bluetooth, if they keep up the improvement I might be tempted back... S3ENVY
Exactly my opinon also. I've only owned Nokia phones for the last 10 years and was never tempted by another brand. They did everything I ever needed and with great speed and efficiency...that was until I upgraded to the Nokia N73... I now own a Sony Ericsson. N73 = Worst. Phone. Ever. I still maintain however that my Nokia 6230 was and still is the best phone I have ever owned. It was brought back into operation over the last few days after my N73 was involved in a nasty incident with the wall. I will go back to Nokia eventually, but only when they sort out the software on their higher end handsets.
Sparky
Nokia lost it a long time ago. SE are far better these days. Can't see me picking another Nokia in a long time.
Chav
N70 was crap. N80 also crap. Both have known issues - mainly huge battery drain/faulty battery. Newer Nokias much better (all series). Writing off nokia is maybe a bit ott - they're sell more phones than anyone else! The BT issues seem to be related to Audi HW - at least partly.... PetrolDave
[ QUOTE ] The BT issues seem to be related to Audi HW - at least partly.... [/ QUOTE ] The problem is that the BT conformance tests are so vague that it's perfectly possible for two incompatible devices to both claim full compliance ... so it's all down to the Bluetooth SIG (and the IEEE for not sorting it out when they took over responsibility for the Bluetooth specs).
