OliFH
The time has come, and the RS will be off to Ed and co at APS for a Milltek cat back and stage 2 remap in a couple of weeks only problem is that I can't decide which one! Res or non-res, valved or non-valved? I've heard both now and the non-res really is insane - which I like - but droney - which I don't..... Also consensus so far seems to be that the (massive) extra cost of the valved systems isn't worth it Am leaning towards non-res non-valved and changing the centre sections if I get fed up with the drone Any suggestions? Woppum
I imagine the valved system is so you can go on track days?
PetrolDave
I've decided to go for the non-res valved cat-back Milltek. Why? So in non-Sport mode I get something not much louder than I currently have in Sport mode (I ALWAYS use Sport mode at the moment), but I can choose (and probably normally will, except when e.g. driving past ponies in the New Forest) to have the exhaust note that the RS4 deserves. S80PMC
I went for Valved & Resonated & i'm more than happy with it. I drive 25K miles per annum in my RS4 so i wanted noise when required & not a boomy motorway headache. I like the fact i can still induce that extra noise with the button, hence i wanted to retain the valve functionality & the ability to quiet things down when required. Valved is not that much more expensive & it kind of retains the genuine features of the car.
OliFH
Wopps - I believe Audi fit the valves to meet EU noise emissions legislation PetrolDave - have you been in a tin-top with the non-res valved fitted? I did for the first time on Thurs and the owner said if he had his money again he'd save the £ (90% more for a valved system) as he couldn't really tell the difference! To be honest it didn't really seem to be much quieter with the valves shut...I'm just a bit torn as although my car is more of a toy than a necessity (no kids/ rarely use it for work) and the noise is epic with the non-res the boominess and resonance at 1900 ish rpm is really quite intrusive and I'm honestly not sure if I could live with it on a long trip..... PetrolDave
[ QUOTE ] (90% more for a valved system) [/ QUOTE ] That's not what I've been quoted! £940 fitted for non-valved or £1750 fitted for valved.

Love_iTT
I originally had the valved, resonated version but to be honest, I was a bit dissapointed with it so I bought the non-resonated section and slipped that in to replace the resonated section - much, much better now. Being a Cabriolet, it's not too boomy and motorway driving is perfect. Graham
OliFH
think you've hit the nail on the head there Graham - if I had a cab it would be an easy decision! Lovely car btw - have seen the videos you posted on 246 - sounds awesome!
Andyuk911
I am not keen on the whole milltek .. however I looked at what esc have the H section for the centre ... I have the rear pipes detached all the time ... see http://forums.fourtitude.com/zerothread?id=3624135
Adam
Oli - what is the stage 2 remap - just allows for the milltek? I have had the basic RS4 APS remap and very pleased with it, although subtle. Do you know what APS do with the throttle limits in first 3 gears? I forgot to aks them and am now curious - mine certainly seems to spend quicker

I've got a mate who had his done there too so I'll see if he knows, otherwise I'll ask Ed when I call him to book it in. I couldn't agree more though - having driven my mate's car the map is certainly subtle and doesn't seem to give a lot of power, but the car is so much smoother and more driveable. Any suggestions on the exhaust? I have just realised that I can buy a London runabout for the cost of the valves!
Adam
that should have read spin not spend, although it Shell can confirm it spends quite quickly too I have disconnected the valves to the std exhaust and think its almost perfect now, certainly to me its not worth the thousands for a Milltek
OliFH
Quick update Have decided to shelve the remap idea for a while to give the engine a bit more time to bed in but...car is booked in for the Milltek this week. Dave - I've also decided to go for the non-res valved. I had a chat with Phil Millington at Milltek this morning and he said if I wasn't happy he'd put the resonated centre sections in FOC for me - I don't reckon you can say fairer than that Adam - agree with you to a point - which is why I'm going all out for the non-res...I have no kiddies/ wife/ work commitments to worry about so may as well go loud!
