CarMad
Not long to wait now to see who is quick out of the box and where they all stand. Will some full the start and spin it off into the gravel trap when the pressure is on. I can't wait. Tarmac_Terrorist
Well one thing will be certain. Coulthard will again be claiming that this year is going to be 'his' year until it's mathematically impossible for him to win again (which is usually about just 5 races into the season). I favour Raikkonen for this GP

CarMad
Certainly an interesting grid for the first race. Ferrari are quick but not the quickest but lets see how they do in the race. The BMW's look to be a real force but are they low on fuel I wonder. Either way a cracking start for Hamilton and the car is looking quick. RedRobin
Final race grid: 1 - Hamilton 2 - Kubica 3 - Kovalainen 4 - Massa 5 - Heidfeld 6 - Trulli 7 - Rosberg 8 - Coulthard 9 - Vettel 10 - Barrichello 11 - Alonso 12 - Button 13 - Nakajima 14 - Webber 15 - Raikkonen (fuel pressure problem in Quali 1) 16 - Fisichella 17 - Bourdais 18 - Sutil 19 - Glock* 20 - Sato 21 - Piquet 22 - Davidson * Demoted 5 places for gearbox change and a further 5 places for blocking Whether you like or support Hamilton or not, there can be no doubt about his abilities. Without TC it's going to be an exciting race without any foregone conclusions methinks. No Traction Control....
wkrzys
Interesting qualifying session i thought! The lack of traction control is really great i think, has added a whole new dimesion, at least for the first few races until they get more used to it. Its really impressive watching drivers battle getting the power down and the back ends slipping out! Hoping however we will see more coverage of other drivers this season (Kubica - me being Polish ;-) ), even so, great stuff Hamilton! Also will be interesting to see what Ross Braun can manage in his new role with Button. My 2 pence!
CarMad
Kubica certainly looks to be improving all the time and the BMW certainly isn't slow.

RedRobin
....Yes, I support Massa too . I'm under no illusions that the likes of Hamilton and Raikkonen can beat him but I think he's a really nice bloke as well as a good driver and I'd love to see him win a Championship one day. Figure11
Hamilton wins, Coulthard says naughty words about his peer and the lack of TC has the expected effects. Fun to watch tho. Mike
jwo
well, what were ferrari up to? massa had too much red bull, kimi saw red and went sato styley. ferrari nil point! gutted. still good race, lewis just needs some competition (turned off immediately after the race as couldn't bear to see lewis's dad and ron the cheat gushing!!) CarMad
Well that certainly wasn't a boring start to this seasons racing. A faultless race by Hamilton to take the win, BMW and Williams look to be very strong and losing traction control has certainly had the desired effect. Ferrari look very strong but it just wasn't there day, not that I'm disappointed in the slightest. I British team and drive at the top of the table after race one, fantastic. byron13
Event packed but wrong outcome for me !! No special treatment for Lewis from Ron at all then eh !! "like a son" was quoted I think !!
962C
Excellent season opener, and the way Formula One should be, back to less driver aids. Great job by Hamilton. Mook
They might as well have changed the name of the ITV show from "F1 Australian GP" to "The Lewis Hamilton Show". I like to see British drivers getting support, but that programme just took the piss. Race was entertaining, but the pre- and post-race coverage seemed to have been sponsored by Anthony Hamilton
CarMad
Its far better to watch than the Schumacher show that the rest of us have had to endure for years.
Mook
But, that's the thing, though. At least when it was Schumacher (Micky-Boy, not Rowlf) then Dave Allen or whatever the feck that annoying commen-tit-or is called would go on about him, but you'd get a fairly unbiased rest of programme from Stevie Spider and Mark Blunder. It was shocking and you know what? I don't like him even more now. Turned it over to another non-brit channel to watch e decent race with decent commentary.
